DevOps Engineer Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Docker-based development, build, packaging, and deployment workflows across multiple software projects
- Define and drive containerization strategy, including Docker image design, multi-stage builds, image optimization, dependency management, container security, and runtime efficiency
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines with strong integration of Docker-based build and deployment environments
- Establish best practices for containerized local development, reproducible builds, release packaging, artifact versioning, and deployment consistency
- Define and enforce standards for branching, merging, code reviews, build validation, release governance, and deployment practices
- Lead reviews of solution designs, Dockerfiles, CI configurations, infrastructure workflows, and release processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to container builds, runtime failures, environment drift, image portability, system performance, and stability
- Improve system reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Lead resolution of build, deployment, and stability issues
- Collaborate across teams to reduce delivery risk and improve quality
- Mentor engineers on Docker and CI/CD best practices
- Drive improvements in automation, containerized workflows, and deployment architecture

Skills Required:

- 8-10 years of relevant experience in DevOps, release engineering, platform engineering, or reliability-focused roles
- Deep hands-on expertise in Docker is mandatory
- Proven experience designing, building, debugging, and maintaining Docker-based development and deployment workflows in complex software environments
- Strong understanding of Docker image creation, multi-stage builds,



image optimization, container lifecycle management, networking, volumes, environment isolation, and debugging containerized applications
- Experience using Docker to enable reproducible builds, deployment consistency, and cross-team developer workflows
- Strong expertise in CI/CD workflows and tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or equivalent platforms, with significant experience integrating Docker into build and release pipelines
- Deep understanding of Git-based version control, including repository management, merge strategies, branching models, and code quality enforcement
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, especially in resolving stability, reliability, and performance issues in containerized and distributed systems without introducing regressions
- Strong understanding of release engineering, deployment processes, and software quality practices
- Proven ability to work across complex system architectures and collaborate effectively with multiple engineering teams
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, define standards, and drive execution in a rapid-paced environment
- Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills

Good to have:

- Experience building and maintaining multi-architecture Docker images for different target platforms and deployment environments
- Experience with Docker Compose, container orchestration environments, or broader container platform tooling
- Experience designing and implementing Continuous Delivery and DevOps architecture patterns
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems and shell environments
- Familiarity with ROS-based systems
- Experience deploying and maintaining software on edge devices such as Jetson Xavier
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering improvements or platform modernization initiatives
