Job Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer - Messaging role is responsible for providing technical review, implementation, administration, analysis, troubleshooting, and consulting support for assigned messaging and systems software. Primary responsibilities include administration, support, and technical consultation of enterprise email and messaging hygiene environments.

This position requires a highly motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision in a complex and demanding technical environment. The role also requires sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor junior team members. Candidates should have experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365. This position also requires participation in 24x7 on-call support.

Responsibilities

- Improve and automate processes and operational tasks to support efficient administration of enterprise messaging services
- Provide advanced technical administration, configuration, and Tier 3 support for enterprise email systems, with a strong focus on Exchange and Proofpoint POD.
- Develop, maintain, and update documentation for existing systems, new solutions, and operational procedures
- Respond to ad hoc stakeholder questions and service requests, escalating issues to management when appropriate
- Research emerging technologies and industry best practices to support infrastructure enhancements and recommend solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Follow and support established Change Management processes for system updates, enhancements, and production changes
- Deliver technical support, guidance, and solutions to users and teams across all levels of the organization, including support for a mobile workforce
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

- Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in a corporate enterprise environment
- Background:



Strong experience administering enterprise messaging platforms in large-scale corporate environments, including system operations, user support, automation, service reliability, performance optimization, and ongoing platform maintenance.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

Must Have Skills

- Deep technical expertise in enterprise messaging platforms, including Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, PowerShell and email security and hygiene solutions
- Solid working knowledge of integrated messaging and collaboration technologies, including Active Directory, mail routing, authentication, and mobile messaging support
- Proven experience in messaging administration, process automation, workflow improvement, and operational support
- Strong understanding of messaging infrastructure, mail flow, platform dependencies, and system configuration
- Ability to analyze logs, evaluate system behavior, and troubleshoot complex issues across enterprise messaging environments
- Experience with access controls, security administration, policy management, and permissions within messaging and directory services
- Experience with service monitoring, reporting, operational dashboards, and platform health analysis
- Knowledge of data governance, email retention, mailbox lifecycle management, migrations, and ongoing platform maintenance
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
