Job Summary
The SDET II supports software quality assurance across multiple HealthTrust applications through a balanced mix of manual testing and test automation. This role is responsible for executing assigned test plans, performing exploratory testing, contributing to defect triage, and maintaining and expanding automated test coverage within HealthTrust's existing Playwright framework.
This position supports customer-facing, internal, and third-party integrated applications across varying levels of complexity. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision, learn business workflows and application behavior quickly, and communicate defects, risks, and test outcomes clearly in a distributed team workplace.
In addition to strong manual QA capability, this role is expected to actively maintain automated tests, contribute new Playwright-based automated coverage, and help increase automation adoption over time within existing QA practices.
Responsibilities
- Execute assigned manual test plans across multiple applications with minimal supervision
- Perform exploratory testing to identify defects, edge cases, and regression risks across customer-facing, internal, and integrated systems
- Create, maintain, and update test cases, test execution results, defect triage, bug reports, and related QA documentation with clarity and precision
- Validate end-to-end workflows across integrated systems, including API behavior, database results, logs, and downstream impacts where appropriate
- Support regression testing efforts and provide reliable coverage of high-risk functional areas
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing automated tests within the current Playwright framework
- Work within established automation patterns, test data approaches, and CI/CD practices to support reliable test execution
- Analyze manual regression areas and identify suitable candidates for automation within the existing framework
- Learn business workflows, application behavior, and system dependencies quickly enough to test effectively across multiple product areas
- Collaborate with developers, QA team members, and engineering partners to clarify expected behavior, reproduce issues, and communicate test results
- Document test risks, gaps, and quality concerns clearly and proactively
Education Experience
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or SDET-related roles with meaningful hands-on experience in both manual testing and test automation
- Background: Previous experience in web application QA, including exploratory testing, regression testing, defect documentation, and maintaining automated tests in an established framework. Experience supporting multi-application environments and contributing automated coverage in Playwright or a comparable UI automation tool is required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Must Have Skills

- Strong defect documentation and bug reporting skills
- Experience contributing to defect triage
- Strong hands-on experience maintaining automated tests in an existing framework
- Hands-on experience creating and updating automated UI tests using Playwright
- Experience with API testing
- Experience validating database results and using SQL or equivalent query skills
- Experience reviewing logs and troubleshooting application behavior
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
- Ability to test across multiple applications and shift priorities based on sprint demand
- Strong written and collaborative communication skills in a distributed team environment
- Ability to produce clear QA artifacts independently, including test cases, bug reports, documentation, and automation design notes
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience improving or extending existing Playwright-based automation suites
- Experience identifying manual regression scenarios that are good candidates for automation
- Experience in healthcare technology environments
- Experience with pricing, contract, or eligibility-related systems
- Experience testing customer-facing
