About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Lead Engineer (HVAC) to Lead our Engineering Team for HVAC Design & Engineering projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones with a thorough understanding of HVAC Design and Standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Develop HVAC design concepts for commercial and residential buildings, including system selection, zoning strategies, air distribution layouts, and plant room configurations from the earliest project stages.
- Lead the detailed design of heating, cooling, ventilation, air handling, and exhaust systems, producing comprehensive design packages including floor plans, sections, schematics, equipment schedules, and specifications.
- Perform and oversee heating and cooling load calculations (e.g., VDI 2078, DIN EN 12831), psychrometric analyses, duct and pipe sizing, pressure drop calculations, and energy simulations to validate design decisions.
- Evaluate, select, and specify HVAC equipment (AHUs, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, fan coil units, VRF/VRV systems, etc.) based on performance, energy efficiency, lifecycle cost, and project requirements.




- Design duct and piping distribution networks, including routing, sizing, insulation specifications, expansion provisions, and coordination with other building services.
- Integrate energy-efficient design strategies, heat recovery systems, renewable energy sources, and passive design principles in line with Germany's climate targets and nearly zero-energy building (nZEB) requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to resolve spatial conflicts, ensure adequate clearances, and maintain design integrity using BIM-based clash detection workflows.
- Ensure all designs comply with German building codes and standards (EnEV/GEG, DIN, VDI), European directives (EPBD, F-Gas Regulation, ErP), and relevant local requirements.
- Develop and maintain internal design standards, templates, and drawing conventions to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across projects.
- Provide Technical Guidance to Junior Engineers and BIM modelers in the team.
- Ensure compliance with IGERs Quality Management Procedures.
- Deliver projects on time and to quality and budget.

Required Skills:

- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on HVAC Design & Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in designing and delivering HVAC Design and Modelling projects.
- Understanding of European fire safety regulations (e.g., EN 13501 fire classification), acoustic performance standards, and thermal/energy efficiency requirements (e.g., Passive House / nZEB standards).
- Knowledge of relevant European Building Codes and HVAC Design Standards, i.e., Euro Codes.
- Must have experience with projects from Europe or USA in Residential and Commercial projects.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills are essential.
- Excellent leadership and team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented skills with clients, stakeholders, project management, and design teams
