Position Details
Job Title: Airport System Specialist
Reporting to: Head Airport Systems
Department: Engineering and Maintenance
Purpose
Responsible for the handing over taking over, Operation &Maintenance; of Entire Airport System coveringPBB/BME/GPU/PCA/BHS/ HBS/SSE/VDGS/VHT/FDAS/Lighting control/ and other digital Systems, etc.,in close coordination with peers, contractors, and other stake holders (internal & external).The responsibility includes establishing Operation & Maintenance Regime, SOPs, PPM/CBM strategies, Performance based agreements, Vendor Management, compliance and certification in line with the company goals of achieving Net Zero and Digitalised Airport operations to achieve quality, safety and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review DBR,s.Initial Designs, Engineering Designs, GFC,s, EPC and establishPerformance mandates, concept of operations, SOPs, EOPs and O&M; Manuals for smooth service delivery of Airport Services to all stake holders.
- Strategizing Vendor performance levels and support in RFP & Contracting process.
- Important roleplay in ORAT coordinating with all stake holders for all Airport Systems and Terminal MEP.
- Leading Vendor onboarding process.
- Leading in strategizing the Operations and Maintenance guidelines in line with the best industry practices, and contributing in working of the Financial Business Plan.
- Assist in installation, testing, commissioning and inspection of all airport systems from operation perspective.
- Taking over of the Airport Systems in line with the standards and specification mentioned in the EPC, snag free and ensuring the systems performance and uptime.
- Tracking progress and highlighting & resolving critical issues proactively.
- Creative approach in resolution of issues and gaps.
- Minimising preopening overhead costs.
Operation and Maintenance Management
- Overall management and control of the Operation & Maintenance of the Airport systems.
- Assist HeadTerminal inestablishingTerminal Engineering & Maintenance Objectives.
- Administer policies and programs to achieve objectives and coordinate activities between departments to maintain operating efficiency.
- Convene and preside at staff meetings to receive, exchange, and convey information.
- Develop, establish, and audit procedures for operating under Emergency conditions.
- Initiate and conduct studies to forecast future needs, including operation and capital expenditures and use studies to support recommendations to the Head Engineering Infrastructure.
- Submit & Track annual operating budget and a capital budget in line with the Airport Business Plan.
- Maintains an effective relationship with the customers, peers, cross function departments, contractors, service providers, Authorities, and represents the Airport Systems in matters of Airport.
- Strategies and administer Vendor Management policies, to prioritize and delegate duties and workflow effectively, identify and secure necessary resources, to ensure Airport System services/operations are conducted in a professional, effective and productive manner.
- Assign work to Vendors representatives and staff to ensure acknowledgement, response and resolutions times are met as per priorities.
- Interaction with CISF/Lift Inspector/ BCAS and other related Authorities.
- Carefully monitor & review the work of Vendors and staff to ensure it adheres to established quality standards and instructions.
- To foster a quality work environment by building employee trust and confidence.
- Complete all tasks within schedule and budget so the Airport Systems receives the benefit of the investment through financial return and reliable service.
- Responsible to demonstrate commitment to continual improvement practices through team participation and resulting in standards like Kaizen, 5S, ISO/ISM certification, to bring up the level of Utilities at par if not above the best industry benchmarks.
- Ensure compliance to Airport Guidelines, Green building Certification guidelines and always aim towards companys goal to be a Net Zero Airport in all respects.
- Tracking Energy performance at sublevels and assist in innovating and implementing energy saving practices across airports.
- Is tech savvy and ensure the automations and digital systems are always operating with 100% uptime.
- Believes and supports technology and structured management process in disseminating its responsibilities.
- Responsible for carrying out Risk identification and Hazzard Assessment exercise, Single point of Failure studies and subsequently strategizing and administering mitigation plan.
- Leads and promote culture of promptness in Trouble shooting, Root cause analysis, incident reporting, near miss reporting to minimise MTBF and MTTR, reduce loss of safe working hours.
- Believes and promotes to carry out operations and maintenance responsibilities aligned with Engineering Maintenance Command Centre requirements to achieve better efficiency and smoot operation of Airport.
- Diligent and timely submission of MIS practices
- Reviews and is abreast of Airport Systems pronouncements and releases.
- Participates in developmental activities, including work simplification programs, training groups, safe activities
- Supervises every other facet of management not outlined above, where such factors are considered essential to proper management.

- Drive the implementation and strict adherence to HSE and Quality standards, Internal and external Audit compliance.
- Conformance of different standards set by different external regulatory bodies such as not limiting to DGCA, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Indian electricity Rules, ICAO, IATA.
- Business Excellence programs in the areas of cost reduction, process excellence, energy saving initiatives, different ISO standard certification, audit, and implementation of audit point.
- Monitor contractors’ compliances to all related statutory regulations.
Handover & Contract Closure
- Prepare, review and coordinated with cross functional system for ORAT requirements.
- Assist in ORAT and take over the project to operation & maintenance team along with complete documentation.
Job Specification
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree preferable in Engineering field ( Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics).Masters in Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage
- Added certificate course of Airport System is added advantage.
Relevant Experience
- 12Yrs + years over all experience
- 8 years of Airport system is a must.
- Must have independently managed Airport System of a large airport with modern systems.
Knowledge
- Expert in Airport System Operation and Maintenance
- Expert in SOP, HOTO, LOCK out Tag Out, PPM schedule etc.
- Knowledge on Safety & Security codes.
- Good understanding of relevant codes, standards and material specifications.
- Knowledge on IATA, DGCA & ICAO standards
