Job Description – FMCG Purchase Executive

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced FMCG Purchase Executive to manage procurement activities for FMCG products. The candidate will be responsible for vendor coordination, price negotiation, purchase planning, inventory availability, purchase orders, and ensuring timely procurement of products at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle end-to-end purchase activities for FMCG products.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Coordinate with existing vendors for regular product availability.
- Negotiate price, credit terms, discounts, schemes, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the inventory/warehouse team for replenishment.
- Analyse sales, stock movement, and demand to support purchase planning.
- Ensure timely procurement and avoid stock-outs and excess inventory.
- Maintain proper records of purchase orders, quotations, invoices, and vendor details.
- Compare vendor quotations and conduct price benchmarking.
- Follow up with vendors for timely delivery and resolve supply-related issues.
- Coordinate with Accounts regarding invoices, payments, and vendor reconciliation.
- Monitor product quality, expiry dates, damages,



and short/excess deliveries.
- Ensure procurement is aligned with company budgets and commercial policies.
- Prepare regular purchase reports and MIS for management.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of FMCG procurement and purchasing.
- Good vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of FMCG products, distributors, wholesalers, and market pricing.
- Good understanding of inventory management, stock ageing, FIFO, and replenishment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Valuable communication and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and purchase/inventory software or ERP.
- Ability to work with sales, warehouse, accounts, and operations teams.

Educational Qualification

- Graduate in any discipline.
- MBA/PG Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Operations will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate

- 2–5 years of experience in FMCG Purchase / Procurement / Retail Purchase.
- Candidates from FMCG companies, supermarkets, retail chains, distributors, or wholesale businesses will be preferred.
