Job Title: Stores Manager
Department: Stores / Inventory
Location: Manufacturing Unit
Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Manager
Job SummaryThe Stores Manager is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, inventory control, and issue of raw materials, finished goods, consumables, and spare parts. The role ensures accurate inventory records, timely material availability for production, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
- Key ResponsibilitiesManage all store operations, including receiving, storing, issuing, and dispatching materials.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to support uninterrupted production.
- Verify Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), material issue slips, and stock transfer documents.
- Monitor inward and outward movement of raw materials, finished goods, consumables, and spare parts.
- Conduct daily, monthly, and annual physical stock verification.
- Reconcile physical stock with ERP/system records and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure proper storage, identification, and preservation of materials.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Quality, and Finance departments.
- Monitor slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare inventory reports, stock statements, and MIS reports for management.
- Implement FIFO/FEFO inventory practices where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain proper housekeeping in the stores.
- Supervise store staff and allocate daily responsibilities.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and company procedures.
- Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
- Diploma or certification in Materials Management is an added advantage.
- Experience5–10 years of experience in manufacturing stores and inventory management.
- Experience with ERP software such as SAP, Tally, Oracle, or similar inventory management systems.
- Required SkillsStrong knowledge of inventory management and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of FIFO, FEFO, ABC Analysis, and stock control techniques.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Positive analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production requirements.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Inventory accuracy.
