Description Burns McDonnell India BMI Power Division is looking for a well-rounded and driven Mechanical Engineer in the Mumbai Office The Power Division focuses on power generating facilities which offer a wide range of design and project execution experiences This position is responsible for the design and evaluation of various systems associated with coal and natural gas fired power generation facilities as well as associated support facilities Candidate will perform work which involves both conventional engineering practices and complex situations requiring innovation relative to work practices and procedures Multi-disciplined power generation projects require engineers to work in a diverse project team environment and exhibit the ability to develop consensus in identifying the optimum solution to complex problems These complex assignments require the application of advanced techniques resulting in the development of new or improved processes equipment and or technological methods Candidate will be responsible for detailed design through the development of contract specifications and contract administration Position will require extensive interface with equipment suppliers vendors and with project managers other engineering disciplines modelers designers and detailers locally in the Mumbai office as well as remotely in various offices in the United States Following are some specific duties responsibilities Coordinating project design assignments and design teams Performing system hydraulic calculations including pump selection sizing and application Developing equipment specifications procuring reviewing vendor drawings and factory acceptance testing of mechanical equipment Prepare and review mechanical data sheets specifications design calculations and material requisitions Coordinate with process civil piping instrumentation and procurement teams to ensure design consistency Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documentation for compliance with project standards Conduct technical bid evaluations TBE and vendor meetings Familiar with fabrication methods welding NDE and inspection requirements Ensure designs meet project schedules cost targets and quality standards Provide technical support during fabrication inspection and site installation stages Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards ASME Sec VIII Div 1 2 API 650 620 TEMA PED etc Prepare and maintain engineering deliverable lists MTOs and progress reports Participate in 3D model reviews inter-discipline design reviews and design audits Travel to the United States as required and requested to support assignments on projects and overall office needs Familiarity with design software such as PV Elite Compress HTRI would be added advantage Qualifications This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments Must be capable of interpreting and developing solutions to complex problems Qualifications include Bachelor s degree in Mechanical engineering from accredited program Minimum 4-8 years of related experience in Fossil generation Process industry or Oil and Gas Valuable communication and coordination skills with clients and vendors Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines Field construction and commissioning experience is preferred Proficient in the English language and must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as robust analytical and problem solving skills Previous consulting engineering experience preferred This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled Job Engineering Primary Location India-Maharashtra-Mumbai Schedule Full-time Travel No Req ID 254547 Job Hire Type Experienced Not Applicable BMI N A
