Veterinary Assistant Department Clinical Support Reporting To Veterinary Technician Medical Director Nominated Veterinary Surgeon Document Version 1 0 Job Summary The Veterinary Assistant provides essential support to the veterinary team in delivering safe compassionate and efficient care to animal patients This role includes assisting with patient handling clinical cleaning and preparation managing pet comfort and supporting veterinary technicians and doctors during consultations and procedures The Veterinary Assistant plays a critical role in creating a stress-free hygienic and well-organized clinical environment for both patients and caregivers Key Responsibilities 1 Patient Handling Support 1 1 Assist in safely handling lifting and restraining pets including dogs cats birds and small mammals during consultations and treatments 1 2 Ensure the patient s physical comfort before during and after examinations and minor procedures 1 3 Support team members in calming anxious or stressed pets using fear-free techniques 2 Clinical Room Setup Hygiene 2 1 Prepare and maintain consultation rooms and OPD areas before and after each case 2 2 Clean sanitize and restock clinical spaces regularly ensuring high standards of hygiene 2 3 Assist with waste disposal and infection control practices in compliance with clinic protocols 3 Support in OPD Procedures 3 1 Help in organizing instruments forms and medication under the supervision of the technician or veterinarian 3 2 Provide basic assistance during procedures such as administering oral medicines wound cleaning or applying ointments as instructed 3 3 Observe and report any changes in the pet s behavior or comfort to the technician or vet on duty 4 Post-operative Care Animal Welfare 4 1 Assist with cage management cleaning feeding and monitoring in-patient animals as instructed 4 2 Support the team during post-operative recovery by monitoring pets and informing seniors of any concerns 4 3 Ensure that pets are kept warm dry and clean throughout their stay at the clinic 5 Team Collaboration General Support 5 1 Work closely with veterinary technicians surgeons and reception teams to ensure smooth case flow 5 2 Maintain qualified behavior punctuality and a positive respectful attitude toward both animals and colleagues 5 3 Participate in training sessions skill enhancement programs and safety drills as required Qualifications and Skills Minimum qualification 12th grade HSC or equivalent Preferred Certification or hands-on experience in pet care or animal handling in a clinical setup Passion for animals and willingness to learn clinical skills Basic understanding of animal body language and behavior Physically fit to lift or hold pets and assist with cage cleaning or setup Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain hygiene standards Courteous patient and empathetic when dealing with pet parents and stressed animals Willing to work in shifts weekends and during emergencies About The Eye Vet The Eye Vet is India s first and only specialty veterinary ophthalmology clinic providing cutting-edge diagnostics consultations and surgical care for animal eye health We serve a wide range of species through a team of highly skilled professionals and a culture of compassion and innovation As a Veterinary Assistant you will be part of a pioneering practice that is transforming veterinary care in India Website http www theeyevet in YouTube https www youtube com theeyevet Instagram https www instagram com theeyevet Facebook https www facebook com TheEyeVet Job Type Permanent Pay From 20 000 00 per month Work Location In person Expected Start Date 01 12 2025
