Job Title: Cost Analyst

Reports to:- Supply Finance Controller

Location:- Chennai

The Cost Analyst will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, monitoring cost variances, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and driving cost optimization initiatives within the factory operations. The role will partner closely with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance teams to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities include:-

Costing & Cost Analysis

- Prepare and maintain product costing, BOM costing, and standard costing models.
- Analyze material, labor, overhead, and conversion costs.
- Monitor manufacturing cost trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Variance Analysis

- Perform detailed variance analysis for:
- Material usage
- Purchase price variance
- Labor efficiency
- Overhead absorption
- Production yield
- Share actionable insights with plant leadership.

Budgeting & Forecasting

- Support annual operating plan (AOP), budgeting,



and forecasting exercises.
- Track actual factory performance against budgets.
- Prepare monthly financial and operational MIS reports.

Inventory & Factory Controls

- Monitor inventory valuation and reconciliation.
- Support cycle counts and annual stock audits.
- Ensure proper cost allocation and inventory accounting practices.

Business Partnering

- Work closely with Production, SCM, Quality, and Procurement teams.
- Evaluate cost impact of process changes, localization, and new product launches.
- Support productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Reporting & MIS

- Prepare factory performance dashboards and cost reports.
- Present key financial insights to management.
- Maintain accuracy of cost data within ERP systems.

Compliance & Process Improvement

- Ensure adherence to financial controls and SOPs.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Drive automation and process improvements in costing and reporting.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:

- CA / CMA / MBA Finance / B.Com with relevant experience
- 48 years of experience in manufacturing finance or plant costing
- Experience in factory or industrial environment preferred
