Job Description

- Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Biochemistry Laboratory.
- Validate and authorize biochemistry test reports accurately and within the stipulated turnaround time (TAT).
- Interpret laboratory results and provide clinical consultation to treating physicians when required.
- Ensure quality control (IQC) and participate in External Quality Assurance Programs (EQAS).
- Monitor laboratory quality indicators and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, and statutory regulations applicable to laboratory services.
- Supervise laboratory technicians and provide technical guidance and training.
- Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and validation of laboratory equipment.
- Review and standardize laboratory policies, SOPs, and documentation.
- Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, and other departments for efficient laboratory services.
- Participate in hospital accreditation activities, audits, CMEs, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper inventory management of laboratory reagents, consumables, and equipment.
- Investigate critical values, laboratory discrepancies, and quality issues, and initiate appropriate corrective actions.




- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory records.

Qualifications

- Experience MBBS with MD / DNB in Biochemistry.
- Valid NMC / State Medical Council Registration.
- Minimum 1 5 years of post-MD experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
- Experience in NABL/NABH-accredited laboratories and multispecialty hospitals is desirable.

Skills Competencies Strong knowledge of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine. Expertise in laboratory quality management systems (IQC EQAS). Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and interpretation skills. Knowledge of NABL, NABH, ISO 15189, and biomedical waste management guidelines. Solid leadership and team management abilities. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Hospital Information Systems (HIS), and MS Office. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
