Role & responsibilities
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive (PdM), preventive (PM) and Corrective (CM) maintenance systems and processes. The primary goal is to ensure high machine uptime and reliable plant operations by quickly diagnosing and addressing mechanical and electrical failures.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on a variety of machinery, including winding machines, conveyor systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions involving pneumatics, hydraulics, alignment, and general engineering components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), motor controls, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Execute all scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities as scheduled and assigned in the Toolcrib management system.
- Perform all maintenance tasks safely, including basic piping, welding, and fabrication.
- Install, modify, and repair equipment as directed by engineering plans or supervisor instruction.
- Participate in Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil sampling.
- Recommend and implement improvements to PM tasks and equipment reliability based on findings and performance data.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and established procedures while performing work.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and responsibly manage tools and equipment.

Job Demands:
- Capable of performing physical labour, including lifting heavy weight, and working in various environmental conditions (hot, cold, dusty).
- This position requires a regular and consistent presence on the production floor.
- May require working shifts (including nights, weekends, or holidays) and may involve on-call duties to support 24/7 operations.
Preferred candidate profile
Essential Education and Certification
- Diploma or equivalent. Technical training, certification, or diploma in a field like Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or Electrical Technology is highly preferred.
- Electrical C Licence (or equivalent official electrical supervisor/wireman permit) is often a requirement for advanced electrical work.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Necessary Skills & Required Competencies
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair three-phase 440V circuits and motor control systems.
- Basic proficiency in troubleshooting or modifying simple PLC logic (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell).
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems (power transmission, bearings, seals, lubrication).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills to quickly determine the root cause of failures.
- Competency in using basic hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
