Role & responsibilities
Hiring, Associate SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with Development who will support enterprise SQL Server environments, balancing hands-on database administration with a solid focus on automation, scripting, code development, and cloud-native operations.
This role is ideal for a candidate who wants to grow beyond traditional DBA work into development, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code driven database management.
Prior experience with Relativity and Relativity SQL Database environments (eDiscovery platform) is highly desirable and will be given preference.
Primary responsibilities
Core DBA 50%
- Administer and maintain SQL Server instances across production, staging, and development environments.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCI).
- Manage Always On Availability Groups (AG) setup, failover testing, synchronization health, and listener configuration.
- Perform routine DBA tasks: index maintenance, backup/restore validation, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Handle patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery planning for clustered environments.
- Troubleshoot replication, latency, and failover issues in HA/DR setups.
- Manage user access, security roles, and compliance auditing.
Development, Automation & Cloud — 50%
- Design, develop, and optimize Stored Procedures and SQL Views for application and reporting needs.
- Perform code development and analysis — writing, reviewing, and refactoring T-SQL code for performance and maintainability.
- Automate Core DBA tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, and scheduled jobs (index maintenance, backup verification, health checks, alerting, log cleanup).
- Identify and automate recurring BAU (Business-As-Usual) tasks to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
- Apply AI-assisted tools and awareness of AI adoption concepts to support code review, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation development.
- Develop PowerShell scripts to automate routine DBA operations, patch deployment, and reporting.
- Use Terraform to provision and manage database infrastructure as code (IaC) across cloud environments.
- Write shell scripts for Linux-based automation and cross-platform tooling.
- Configure and manage Rubrik for automated backup, recovery, and disaster recovery workflows.
- Build and maintain Grafana dashboards for SQL Server performance monitoring and alerting.
- Support and optimize database workloads in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Use Spotlight/Foglight for proactive performance monitoring, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain runbooks, AZDO, GitHub, SOPs, and incident/root-cause-analysis reports.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams on database-related initiatives.

- Backup & DR: Rubrik.
- Monitoring: Grafana, Spotlight / Foglight.
- Cloud: Azure / AWS / GCP (any cloud).
- BAU Automation: Identifying and automating recurring operational/BAU tasks.
- AI Awareness: AI-assisted development, troubleshooting, and automation tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+Years of in-depth SQL Server Database architecture and administration experience.
