Role Summary
The Chief Accountant will oversee the entire accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and the health of the companys cash flow. You will be responsible for managing project-based accounting (Job Costing), ensuring tax compliance, and providing the executive team with the data needed to bid competitively on current contracts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the General Ledger, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Coordinate year-end audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
2. HVAC Job Costing & Project Accounting
- Track costs for labor, materials, and subcontractors against original estimates.
- Monitor Work in Progress (WIP) reports to ensure projects are staying within budget.
- Calculate and manage Percentage of Completion (POC) revenue recognition.

Cash Flow & Compliance
- Manage "Progress Billings" and ensure timely collections to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Oversee payroll for both office staff and field technicians (including prevailing wage or union reporting if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and central tax regulations, including sales tax for equipment and materials.
4. Additional General Responsibility
- Manage accounts finalization, bank reconciliation, and GST compliance.
- Oversee finance and accounting operations, including taxation (TDS) and Tally management.
- Ensure accurate bookkeeping practices to maintain financial records.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders for smooth financial transactions.
- Provide guidance on financial matters to team members.
