Job Description: Site Safety In-Charge
Role Overview
- Department: Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
- Experience: 6-10 years of relevant Occupational Safety experience
- Location: Parvada, Vizag
- Industry Preference: Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Construction, or Manufacturing sectors
Job Purpose
The Site Safety In-Charge will be responsible for day-to-day site-level safety monitoring, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and statutory regulations, and fostering a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Safety Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify and mitigate unsafe acts and conditions.
- Monitor strict compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage and protected work practices.
- Implement Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Assist in maintaining site safety standards as per company and statutory guidelines.
2. Safety Reporting, Documentation & MIS
- Maintain daily safety reports, observation records, and compliance documentation.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly safety MIS reports.
- Maintain rigorous records related to incidents, near misses, training, and inspections.
3. Incident Management & Follow-Up
- Immediately report incidents, unsafe conditions, and near misses to senior safety personnel.
- Support incident investigations and the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Follow up diligently on the closure of identified safety observations.
4. Training, Awareness & Coordination
- Conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT), safety inductions, and training programs for employees and contractors.
- Coordinate and assist in organizing Mock Drills, safety campaigns, and safety committee meetings.
- Support senior safety team members during internal and external safety audits/inspections.
Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
Educational Qualifications
- Primary: Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Safety Engineering.
- Alternative: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in a relevant Science discipline.
- Preferred: Certification in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety.
Core Competencies & Skills
- Technical: Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), safety documentation, and basic knowledge of applicable safety acts, rules, and regulations.
- Functional: Strong site-level safety monitoring, exposure to internal safety audits, and robust record maintenance.
- Behavioral: Proactive attitude, safety-conscious, disciplined, and strong follow-up skills.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication; ability to coordinate effectively with site and contract teams.
