Job Title: Packaging Development Executive / Assistant Manager New Product Development (Fragrance)

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and technically proficient Packaging Development professional to join our NPD team. The role will be responsible for developing innovative, premium, and functional packaging solutions for our fragrance portfolio across the Indian and International markets. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in packaging development, material sourcing, vendor management, packaging validation, and commercialization, ensuring packaging meets global quality, regulatory, and brand standards.

This role requires close collaboration with Product Development, Procurement, Design, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and international packaging suppliers to deliver successful product launches within timelines and budget.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end packaging development for fragrance products, including perfumes, body mists, deodorants, attars, room sprays, reed diffusers, scented candles, car fresheners, and other home fragrance products.
- Develop primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions while balancing premium aesthetics, functionality, durability, and cost.
- Source and evaluate packaging components such as glass bottles, PET bottles, pumps, spray actuators, caps, collars, decorative accessories, rigid boxes, mono cartons, labels, corrugated shippers, and protective inserts.
- Collaborate with domestic and international vendors for sample development, tooling, costing, artwork execution, and production planning.
- Conduct packaging compatibility studies, leakage tests, spray performance tests, transportation simulations, drop tests, stability studies,



and shelf-life evaluations.
- Work closely with the Design team to ensure packaging aligns with brand identity, luxury positioning, and consumer expectations across different markets.
- Review and approve packaging artwork, specifications, BOMs (Bill of Materials), dielines, technical drawings, and packaging standards.
- Ensure packaging complies with Indian and international regulatory requirements, labeling norms, export standards, and sustainability guidelines.
- Drive cost optimization and value engineering initiatives while maintaining premium packaging quality.
- Identify innovative packaging materials, finishes, and sustainable alternatives to enhance product differentiation.
- Coordinate pilot batches and commercial production while troubleshooting packaging-related issues during manufacturing.
- Maintain packaging documentation, technical specifications, SOPs, validation reports, and change management records.
- Work closely with Procurement to qualify current suppliers, improve packaging quality, and ensure timely material availability.
- Monitor packaging trends, consumer preferences, competitor benchmarking, and emerging technologies within the fragrance and beauty industry.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Packaging Technology or Product Development will be an advantage.

Experience

- 36 years of experience in Packaging Development, Packaging R&D;, or NPD.
- Experience in Fragrance, Perfume, Cosmetics, Beauty & Personal Care, Home Fragrance, Luxury Packaging, or FMCG industries is preferred.
- Experience working on export-oriented products and international packaging standards is highly desirable.
