Production Head

Location: Porbandar, Gujarat (On-site) | Reports To: Managing Director | Function: Manufacturing & Operations | Company: Amar Food Products (AFP)

Role Summary

The Production Head will be responsible for the overall production operations of AFP's Porbandar manufacturing facility, ensuring safe, high-quality, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective production of both Ready-to-Fry (RTF) and Raw Frozen (RTC) seafood products. The role requires complete ownership of production planning, execution, manpower management, quality, productivity, capacity utilization, and cross-functional coordination to achieve business objectives while maintaining the highest food safety and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate should be a robust shop-floor leader who can effectively bridge the gap between production workers and top management, ensuring smooth communication, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement across all manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

- Own daily, weekly, and monthly production planning based on sales forecasts and customer indents.
- Coordinate with the Sales team to prepare achievable production plans while ensuring on-time deliveries.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, utilities, and production capacity.
- Monitor production schedules and take proactive actions to eliminate delays or bottlenecks.
- Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising product quality or food safety.

Plant Operations

- Lead end-to-end production operations for:
- Ready-to-Fry (RTF) Seafood Products
- Raw Frozen (RTC) Seafood Products

- Maintain a smooth production flow from raw material receipt to finished goods dispatch.
- Ensure proper shift planning, manpower allocation, and productivity across all departments.
- Drive disciplined shop-floor execution and maintain high operational standards.

Leadership & People Management

- Lead, motivate, and develop production supervisors, shift in-charges, and operators.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct daily production review meetings and communicate plant priorities effectively.




- Resolve shop-floor issues promptly through effective decision-making.
- Train production personnel on SOPs, GMP, food safety, and operational best practices.

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with Sales, QA, Maintenance, Procurement, Stores, Planning, Dispatch, and Cold Chain teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and minimize production interruptions.
- Support new product trials and commercial launches in coordination with the R&D; team.

Food Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with HACCP, GMP, GHP, FSSAI, BRCGS (where applicable), customer requirements, and export regulations.
- Ensure readiness for customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
- Maintain complete production documentation and traceability records.
- Ensure hygiene, sanitation, and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.

Continuous Improvement

- Improve productivity, labour efficiency, yield, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Reduce production losses, wastage, rework, downtime, and operational costs.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.

Equipment & Maintenance

- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Coordinate machine breakdown resolution with the Maintenance team.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or automation where required.

Reporting & Performance Management

- Prepare and present weekly and monthly production reports to the Managing Director.

- Recommend improvement plans based on performance analysis.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Fisheries Science, Food Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

- 1015 years of experience in seafood or frozen food manufacturing.
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience as a Production Head, Plant Manager, or in a similar leadership role.
- Hands-on experience across both Ready-to-Fry (RTF) and Raw Frozen (RTC) seafood product manufacturing is required.

Technical Knowledge

Language Requirements

- Fluent in Hindi (mandatory)
