Job Description:The Student Counsellor is responsible for promoting students' emotional well-being, academic success, and personal development. The role involves providing individual and group counselling, identifying students who require additional support, collaborating with teachers and parents, and implementing programs that foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counselling for academic, emotional, behavioural, and social concerns.
- Assess students' needs and develop appropriate intervention and support plans.
- Help students develop coping skills, resilience, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving abilities.
- Offer career guidance and educational planning appropriate to different age groups.
- Conduct workshops and awareness programs on mental health, stress management, bullying prevention, life skills, and well-being with students and/ or parents.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students requiring additional academic or behavioral support.
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Maintain confidential counselling records and prepare reports as required.
- Refer students to external mental health professionals or specialists when necessary.
- Participate in crisis intervention and student safeguarding procedures.
- Support students during transitions, including admissions, grade changes, and graduation.
- Promote an inclusive school culture that supports diversity and student welfare.
- Stay updated on counselling practices, child development, and educational policies.
- May require attendance at parent meetings, school events, and professional development sessions.
- Must adhere to school safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality policies.
Education Qualification & Skills: Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, School Counselling, or a related field.
Certification or license in counselling (as required by local regulations).
Additional training in child and adolescent mental health is preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Empathy, patience, emotional intelligence and Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills and time-management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and qualified ethics and to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
