About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Assistant Manager – Fuze Assembly / Shell Assembly to lead and manage assembly operations within a high-precision defence manufacturing environment. The role involves overseeing production, quality, safety, manpower management, process improvements, and compliance requirements for ammunition assembly operations.

The ideal candidate should possess strong shopfloor leadership skills, hands-on production experience, and expertise in assembly processes, Lean Manufacturing, OEE improvement, Kaizen implementation, and quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Production Management & Quality Control
- Lead and monitor precision assembly operations of ammunition components.
- Ensure smooth execution of:
- Projectile Assembly




- Explosive Filling (HE / Incendiary / DP as applicable)
- Fuze Assembly & Integration

Final Inspection & Packing

- Drive OEE improvements across production lines.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Optimize manpower utilization, line balancing, and machine productivity.
- Maintain lot traceability through SAP/MES systems.
- Ensure compliance with IMS requirements including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Monitor production KPIs related to output, quality, rejection, downtime, and efficiency.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement timely corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Machine Shop and Assembly teams to maintain OTIF commitments.
- Drive FPY improvement and reduction of manufacturing defects.
- Review and interpret engineering and assembly drawings to ensure process compliance.

Safety & Compliance

- Enforce all safety standards and operating procedures.
- Conduct regular safety training and awareness programs.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventive actions.
- Promote a Zero Incident safety culture.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Monitor machine performance and identify preventive maintenance requirements.
- Perform basic troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted production.

Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Maintain production records, quality reports, and traceability documentation.
- Ensure accurate SAP updates and MES traceability records.

Eligibility Criteria

- Educational Qualification - B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience – 3-8 years

Must-Have Requirements

- Experience in production and assembly shop operations
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
- Robust knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience in manpower management and shift operations
- Knowledge of SAP (Mandatory)
- Exposure to OEE, TPM, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Quality Systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
