C.V. Raman Global University (CGU), Odisha started in 1997 as a degree-level engineering college, named as C.V. Raman College of Engineering (CVRCE). With 25 Centres of Excellence set up in collaboration with industry leaders across the board, the university today has over 20 start-ups working under its AIC & TBI incubation centre.

Where You Come In

We are seeking a qualified and competent Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to oversee radiation safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise the safe operation of radiation-generating equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing radiation protection measures, maintaining statutory compliance with the requirements of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), and promoting a safe working environment.

Supervision Details:

Department: Mechanical Engineering

Immediate Supervisor: Head of the Department

Indirect Supervisors President, Vice President, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar

Working Relationship: All Teaching and Non-teaching staffs of the Department/University

Salary Information: Commensurate with qualification and experience (negotiable)

Job Location: Bhubaneswar CGU Campus

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring compliance with all applicable AERB Rules, Safety Codes and Guidelines.
2. Obtaining and maintaining AERB approvals, licenses, and procurement permissions.
3. Maintaining records related to radiation safety and regulatory compliance.
4. Supervising installation, commissioning and operation of Industrial X-Ray Equipment.
5. Monitoring radiation exposure levels and implementing radiation protection measures.
6. Conducting periodic radiation surveys and safety inspections.
7. Organizing radiation safety training and awareness programmes for operators.
8.



Preparing emergency response procedures and handling radiation incidents, if any.
9. Liaising with AERB and other statutory authorities.
10. Ensuring safe storage, operation and maintenance of radiation-generating equipment.
11. Submission of regulatory reports as required by AERB.

Who Are We Looking For

Candidates must possess any of the following qualifications recognized by AERB:

- B.Sc. with Physics as one of the main subjects; OR
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized Institution/ University; OR
- Equivalent qualification acceptable to AERB.
- Candidates must possess any of the following qualifications recognized by AERB:
- Hold a valid Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Certification/Approval issued by AERB for Industrial Radiography/Industrial X-Ray Applications.
- Be eligible for nomination and approval as RSO by AERB.
- Possess adequate knowledge of AERB Safety Codes, Rules and Regulatory Requirements related to industrial radiography and industrial X-ray installations.

- Experience:

- Minimum 03 years' experience in Industrial Radiography, Industrial X-Ray Inspection, NDT activities, Radiation Protection, or related field.
- Experience in handling AERB licensing and e-LORA applications. (Desirable)
- Experience in operation of Industrial X-Ray Systems. (Desirable)
- Experience in preparation of Radiation Emergency Procedures and Safety Audits. (Desirable)
- Experience in manufacturing, inspection, welding, quality control, or NDT laboratories. (Desirable)
