About The Role
We are seeking a full-time, detail-oriented Remote Junior Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their accounting expertise in a supportive environment. As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting our clients with their accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax-related needs. You will prepare financial statements, assist with compliance and regulatory filings, and analyze financial data to provide meaningful insights. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various industries and deepen your understanding of Canadian tax laws and accounting standards. The successful candidate will be proactive, organized, and committed to delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced setting.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Canadian tax laws and financial reporting standards, with proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Jazzit, Profile, and Caseware. You should have advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office, including SharePoint. The ability to work independently,
manage multiple client accounts, and adapt to changing priorities is essential. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to interact effectively with clients and team members. Solid organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are critical to ensure accuracy and compliance. Candidates must be willing to work significant overtime during tax season, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines and support client needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to clients by responding to accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, aligned with client needs and industry standards.
- Assist clients with banking compliance, financial reporting requirements, and the finalization of banking and mortgage-related agreements.
- Analyze financial data, perform ratio and cash flow analysis, and help clients with transparent and insightful financial reporting.
- Deliver bookkeeping services such as recording sales, managing accounts receivable and payable, expenses, payroll transactions, and maintaining inventory records.
- Support payroll compliance activities, including WSIB, government remittances, T4 and T4A filings, and CRA reconciliations; prepare T5 slips as required.
- Prepare HST/GST and other provincial tax returns, along with Personal (T1) and Corporate (T2) tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with CRA regulations.
- Maintain organized electronic files and supporting documentation for easy access, retrieval, and audit purposes.
- Foster strong client relationships by providing responsive, professional, and high-quality customer service.
- Identify client needs proactively and communicate opportunities or issues to relevant internal teams.
- Collaborate with the administrative team in supporting clients during CRA inquiries.
- Prepare working papers, schedules, and supporting documentation for audits and reviews, ensuring timely completion and high standards of accuracy and quality control.
- Work closely with the Assurance team to complete audits and reviews, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
