- Tool Room Governance (Multi-Plant)
- Act as central owner for tool room and tooling activities across all plants.
- Standardize tooling practices, procedures, and documentation.
- Ensure uniform tooling systems and processes across locations.
- Conduct regular reviews of tool performance and maintenance.
- Tool Maintenance & Reliability
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of moulds, dies, and fixtures.
- Improve tool life and reduce breakdown frequency.
- Monitor tool performance, breakdown analysis, and corrective actions.
- Maintain tool history records and tracking systems.
- Tooling Development & Trials
- Support NPD in new tool development, trials, and validation.
- Ensure readiness of tools for recent product launches.
- Coordinate with design, vendors, and production teams.
- Approve tool trials and modifications.
- Vendor & Outsourcing Management
- Manage tool vendors for manufacturing, repair, and modification.
- Evaluate vendor capability and performance.
- Ensure cost-effective sourcing and timely delivery of tools.
- Cost & Inventory Control
- Control tooling costs including maintenance, spares, and consumables.
- Maintain optimum inventory of critical spares.
- Drive cost reduction and tooling efficiency initiatives.
- Process Improvement & Standardization
- Implement best practices in tool maintenance and handling.
- Reduce tool changeover time and improve SMED practices.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in tooling.
- Team Development & Leadership
- Build and lead tool room teams across plants.
- Define skill matrix and training plans.
- Develop competencies in tool maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe working practices in tool room operations.
- Adhere to EHS and statutory requirements.
