Job Description:
Job Summary
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience
in electro-mechanical actuators and precision mechanisms for aerospace
applications. The role involves design and development of high-load mechanical
systems including actuators, gear trains, screw mechanisms, and structural
assemblies used in launch vehicle or aerospace systems.
The engineer will work closely with electrical, control, and manufacturing teams to
develop reliable, high-performance mechanical systems from concept
through qualification and production.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop electro-mechanical actuator systems for aerospace
applications.
• Develop mechanical architectures including
o linear actuation mechanisms
o roller screw / ball screw assemblies
o gear trains
o actuator housings and structural elements.
• Perform mechanical sizing and load calculations for actuator systems including
inertia loads, friction loads, and dynamic loads.
• Design and integrate precision mechanical components such as bearings, gears,
shafts, pistons, and rod-end interfaces.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and tolerance
specifications.
• Perform structural and fatigue analysis of critical components using analytical
methods and FEA tools.
• Support prototype development, assembly, and testing of actuator systems.
• Participate in environmental and qualification testing including vibration, thermal,
and endurance testing.
• Work with manufacturing teams to support machining, fabrication, assembly, and
production processes.
• Ensure designs meet reliability, safety, and aerospace qualification
requirements.
Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace
Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in mechanical design of actuators, mechanisms, or high-
load motion systems.
• Strong understanding of
o gears and gear trains
o screw mechanisms (ball screw / roller screw)
o bearings and load paths
o precision mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX.
• Experience performing mechanical calculations and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with tolerance stack-ups and precision assembly design.
POSITIVE TO HAVE
• Experience designing aerospace mechanisms or launch vehicle subsystems.
• Experience with thrust vector control actuators or control surface actuators.
• Familiarity with high-power electromechanical systems using BLDC motors.
• Experience with FEA tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Exposure to environmental qualification testing for aerospace hardware.
• Experience working in hardware development programs from concept to flight
qualification.
