Job Description: The role of a Senior Engineer/Engineer for a Slag Crusher in a Steel Melt Shop (SMS) focuses on managing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of equipment used to process steelmaking slag into usable material. The position ensures efficient processing, safety compliance, and quality control. Key Responsibilities

- Operation Management: Oversee the daily operation of the slag crushing plant within the SMS to ensure efficient processing of large slag chunks into desired, manageable fragments.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime of crushers (e.g., jaw crushers, roller crushers), screens, and associated conveyor systems.
- Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize the size and consistency of the crushed slag particles.
- Quality Control: Ensure the processed slag meets specific size and consistency requirements for further use or sale, coordinating with quality assurance teams as needed.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly enforce all health, safety, and environmental protocols and regulations within the slag processing area and the broader SMS facility.
- Project Management: Manage engineering projects related to upgrades, installations, or modifications of the slag crusher equipment, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze operational data,



track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare regular reports on production, downtime, and material flow for management.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of operators and technicians, delegating tasks and providing guidance to ensure effective and safe operations.
- Inventory & Spares Management: Coordinate with the maintenance and procurement teams to ensure necessary spare parts and materials for the crushing unit are available.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering is typically required.
- Experience: Relevant work experience (typically 5-10 years for a Senior Engineer role) in a steel plant, mining, or a related heavy industrial environment, specifically with crushing, material handling systems, and heavy machinery.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of crushing principles, equipment (e.g., jaw crushers, cone crushers), material handling systems (conveyors, screens), and steelmaking processes and slag properties.
- Skills: Solid problem-solving abilities, project management skills, leadership qualities, and knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Physical Demands: The role may require physical stamina for field inspections and working in industrial environments.
