Job Title: Political Communication Lead
Location: Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), Kerala
Salary: Up to ₹4,00,000 per month
Experience: 3–8 Years
Education: Bachelor's/Master's Degree from a Tier 1 Institute (Preferred)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Political Communication Lead to lead strategic communications, shape political narratives, manage media relations, and oversee crisis communication for high-profile political campaigns and public affairs initiatives.
The ideal candidate should possess exceptional communication skills, political acumen, and the ability to manage high-pressure situations while protecting and enhancing the public image of political leaders and organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive political communication strategies aligned with campaign objectives.
- Craft compelling messaging, campaign narratives, speeches, press releases, talking points, policy briefs, and opinion articles.
- Lead media relations by building robust relationships with journalists, editors, television channels, and digital media platforms.
- Design and implement integrated communication campaigns across print, digital, television, radio, and social media.
- Lead crisis communication planning and execution by anticipating potential issues, developing response strategies, preparing official statements, coordinating rapid response teams, and managing reputational risks during political or public crises.
- Monitor news cycles, media coverage, public opinion, and political developments to identify emerging opportunities and threats.
- Collaborate with research, analytics, digital, and campaign teams to develop data-driven communication strategies.
- Manage spokesperson preparation, media briefings,
interviews, debates, and public appearances.
- Develop communication strategies for elections, policy launches, governance initiatives, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure consistency in messaging across all communication channels.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Build and maintain relationships with political leaders, government officials, influencers, media professionals, and strategic partners.
- Lead and mentor communication executives while ensuring timely execution of communication plans.
Crisis Management Responsibilities
- Develop proactive crisis communication frameworks and contingency plans.
- Monitor political, social, and media risks that may impact the organization's reputation.
- Lead rapid response communication during political controversies, misinformation campaigns, emergencies, and reputation-related incidents.
- Prepare crisis statements, FAQs, holding statements, and media responses.
- Coordinate with legal, campaign, policy, and leadership teams during crisis situations.
- Manage social media communication during crises to ensure timely and accurate information dissemination.
- Conduct post-crisis evaluations and recommend improvements to crisis communication strategies.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malayalam.
- Strong understanding of political communication, public affairs, and electoral campaigns.
- Expertise in media relations, public relations, and strategic messaging.
- Proven experience in Crisis Communication and Reputation Management.
- Strong speechwriting, content creation, and storytelling abilities.
- Deep understanding of current affairs, public policy, and political dynamics.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and make strategic decisions in time-sensitive situations.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital communication tools, and social media platforms.
Preferred Background
- Experience in political consulting firms, election campaigns, government communication, public affairs, media organizations, or public policy institutions.
- Experience working with senior political leaders, ministers, elected representatives, or government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in handling crisis communication, reputation management, and high-profile media engagements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a Tier 1 Institute (Preferred).
- Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
