An Assistant Professor in Sociology is responsible for teaching, research, student mentoring, and contributing to the academic and administrative activities of a college or university.
Position: Assistant Professor – Sociology
Primary Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in sociology.
Prepare lesson plans, lecture materials, assignments, and examinations.
Assess student performance through tests, projects, presentations, and exams.
Guide and mentor students on academic and research projects.
Conduct independent and team-oriented research in sociology and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Apply for research grants and participate in academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Develop and update course curricula in line with university and accreditation requirements.
Supervise dissertations, theses,
or fieldwork (where applicable).
Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and institutional activities.
Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation, and curriculum development processes.
Perform administrative duties assigned by the department or institution.
Required Qualifications
Ph. D or Master's degree (M.A.) in Sociology with the required minimum marks.
Qualification in the relevant national eligibility examination (such as UGC-NET, SET, or equivalent), where applicable.
Solid knowledge of sociological theories, research methods, and contemporary social issues.
Pay: ₹13,065.63 - ₹70,554.99 per month
