Role Description The Lead NLP Engineer is a full time, on-site role based in Abroad, responsible for driving the design, development, and deployment of natural language processing solutions that enhance Esse India’s consulting services and internal workflows. On a day-to-day basis, this role involves building and optimizing NLP models for tasks such as text classification, information extraction, document understanding, and conversational interfaces to support clients and internal teams. The Lead NLP Engineer will collaborate closely with product, consulting, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, oversee data pipelines, and ensure models are accurate, secure, and scalable.

This position also includes mentoring junior engineers, establishing best practices in ML/NLP development, and staying current with advancements in AI relevant to immigration and legal document processing.

Qualifications

Robust foundation in NLP and machine learning, including experience with common algorithms, text processing techniques, and modern language models.

Hands-on experience with NLP libraries and frameworks (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, NLTK,



TensorFlow or PyTorch) and building end-to-end ML pipelines.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and familiarity with software engineering practices, version control, testing, and code review.

Experience designing and deploying production-ready NLP systems, including working with APIs, cloud platforms, and containerization tools.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, translate business problems into technical solutions, and communicate complex concepts clearly.

Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring team members, setting technical direction, and contributing to architectural decisions.

Background in handling real-world text data, preferably in domains such as immigration, legal, government, or qualified services.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Commitment to ethical AI practices, data privacy, and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in deployed models.
