Used Car Evaluator / Pre-Owned Vehicle Inspection Expert
Role Overview A Used Car Evaluator is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and determining the fair value and condition of pre-owned vehicles before purchase, resale, or certification.
Key Responsibilities
Perform complete vehicle inspections (engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electricals)
Evaluate vehicle history (accidents, service records, ownership)
Identify signs of accidents, repainting, rust, or flood damage
Conduct test drives to assess performance and drivability
Check engine health, emissions, and live data readings using diagnostic tools
Estimate market value and resale price
Prepare inspection reports with recommendations
Assist buyers/sellers in negotiation based on findings
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of automobile systems (mechanical + electrical)
Ability to detect hidden issues or fraud (meter tampering, code clearing)
Valuable analytical and reporting skills
Basic computer/mobile app usage for diagnostics
Qualifications
Diploma/ITI in Automobile Engineering OR
Experience as a mechanic, service advisor, or car inspector
Certification in automotive diagnostics (preferred)
Experience
1–5 years in automobile service, inspection, or used car industry
