Role Description
The Maths Mentor – Remote role is a part-time position focused on guiding school-age learners through foundational and advanced math concepts in an online setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting live virtual sessions, explaining mathematical topics in a clear and engaging way, and using interactive activities to reinforce understanding. The mentor will assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and levels.
Additional tasks include preparing lesson plans aligned with Codeyoung’s curriculum, maintaining accurate records of sessions,
and communicating with parents or guardians as needed to discuss learner progress. This is a remote role requiring reliable internet access and comfort with online teaching tools.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of school-level mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and problem-solving) and the ability to explain concepts clearly to young learners.
Experience with online teaching or tutoring, including familiarity with virtual classroom platforms and digital collaboration tools.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, encouraging, and student-centered mentoring style.
Ability to design and deliver engaging, activity-based lessons that support interactive and hands-on learning.
Positive organizational skills for managing multiple learners, scheduling sessions, and documenting learner progress.
Bachelor’s degree or ongoing studies in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
Prior experience working with children or teens in educational or mentoring roles is an advantage.
Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote working workplace.
