Before Surgery (Pre-Operative)
Checks patient identity, medical history, consent forms, and surgical site markings.
Prepares and sterilizes surgical instruments, equipment, and the room setting.
Assists the anesthesia team with patient setup and monitoring preparation
During Surgery (Intra-Operative)
Scrub Nurse: Works in the sterile zone, hands tools to the surgeon, and protects the sterile field.
Circulating Nurse: Works outside the sterile zone, manages non-sterile supplies, tracks machine functions, and records data.
Performs strict counts of surgical tools, sponges, and needles with the team to prevent retained items
After Surgery (Post-Operative)
Transfers the patient safely to the recovery unit.
Completes all surgical and nursing documentation.
Cleans and restocks the room for the next procedure
