Join a team of skilled and experienced technologists tasked with maintaining and enhancing our large scale, globally deployed RedHat Linux-based platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
Take ownership of components on a global level, working with operational counterparts and customers to prioritize and execute on enhancements, extensions and remediation in these critical components of our infrastructure.
Use declarative configuration-as-code principles and extensive automation across a mixture of strategic engineering and design projects.
Add features, manage, and tune configuration, and perform deep-level troubleshooting of the existing Linux platform management systems and Linux O/S configuration and builds.
Be involved in the architectural design and implementation of current solutions to support the fast-paced, dynamic needs of the business.
Lead the development of new ideas and policies at an inter-departmental level.
Required Qualifications / Skills :
Expert knowledge of Linux, including familiarity with UNIX system calls,
and low-level O/S and network protocols.
Experience of using any up-to-date config management system (examples such as Salt Stack, Puppet, or Chef) to automate management of a large-scale Linux deployment.
Ability to write robust, maintainable code in Python and/or Perl.
Effective troubleshooting skills across hardware, O/S, network, and storage.
Ability to convey complex technical topics to a non-technical audience, identify and communicate the business risks or advantages of the projects you are working on, and form strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
Preferred Skills :
Experience working in a large, multi-national enterprise in any industry vertical, showing experience of communicating and collaborating in globally distributed teams.
Enthusiasm for modern development tools and practices including Git, Jenkins, automated testing, and continuous integration.
