Senior Electrician – Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and installations throughout the hospital.
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical areas such as ICU, Operation Theatre, Emergency Department, Laboratory, and other patient care units.
Monitor and maintain generators, UPS systems, transformers, electrical panels, and distribution systems.
Attend and rectify electrical breakdowns and emergency maintenance issues promptly.
Perform preventive maintenance as per the scheduled maintenance plan.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and identify corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and hospital standards.
Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
Supervise and guide junior electricians and maintenance staff.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized electrical works and annual maintenance contracts.
Monitor energy consumption and recommend measures for effective power utilization.
Ensure availability of essential electrical spare parts and maintenance tools.
Support installation, testing, and commissioning of current electrical equipment and systems.
Participate in emergency preparedness activities and ensure readiness of backup power systems.
Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.
Knowledge of generators, UPS systems, LT panels, transformers, and building electrical systems.
Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical faults independently.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work in shifts and attend emergency call-outs when required.
