Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Prepare patients for catheterization, angioplasty, pacemaker implantation and cardiac procedures
- Take patient's vital signs, oxygen levels and heart rhythm
- Ensure patients chart and records are updated
- Monitor patient's vital signs during the procedure
- Administer medication according to the physicians instructions before, during and after cardiac procedures
- Assist during emergencies and perform lifesaving procedures
- Adhere departmental safety and quality procedures
- Respond to patient concerns and answered questions
- Educate patients on what was involved with the procedure of inserting the catheter
- Implemented infection control practices
