ASME Section IX, AWS, or equivalent welding qualifications will be an added advantage.BackgroundThe Senior Welder is responsible for fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems, storage tanks, process vessels, structural steel, utility pipelines, and other fabrication works in a lubricant oil blending and manufacturing plant. The role requires sound knowledge of industrial welding practices, maintenance activities, shutdown jobs, and safe work practices applicable to chemical and petroleum industries.Competency SkillsTechnical Competencies
Proficient in SMAW (Arc Welding), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and gas cutting operations.
Experience in welding Carbon Steel (CS), Stainless Steel (SS304/SS316), and MS structural fabrication.
¢ Ability to perform pipe welding in various positions (2G, 5G, 6G preferred).
¢ Knowledge of fabrication, fit-up, alignment, and dimensional tolerances.
¢ Ability to read fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, piping layouts, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
¢ Familiarity with pressure piping, storage tanks, pump skids, platforms, pipe supports, handrails, and utility piping fabrication.
¢ Knowledge of welding consumables, electrode selection, filler materials, preheating, and post-weld finishing.
¢ Understanding of welding distortion control and repair techniques.
¢ Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

¢ Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure leak-free and defect-free weld joints.

¢ Ability to work under pressure during plant breakdowns and shutdown maintenance.Job Profile and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Welder shall be responsible for carrying out fabrication, maintenance, and repair work related to process equipment, piping, tanks, structures, and utilities while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
¢ Carry out welding and fabrication of process pipelines, storage tanks, blending vessels, platforms, staircases, pipe supports, and structural steel.




¢ Perform maintenance welding during plant breakdowns and preventive maintenance activities.
¢ Repair cracks, leakages, damaged pipelines, pumps, and fabricated components.
¢ Read and interpret engineering drawings, piping isometrics, fabrication sketches, and work instructions.
¢ Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, edge preparation, beveling, and fit-up before welding.
¢ Select appropriate welding electrodes, filler wires, shielding gases, and welding parameters based on material specifications.
¢ Inspect completed welds visually and assist during NDT inspections wherever required.
¢ Ensure all welding work complies with applicable company quality standards and approved welding procedures (WPS).
¢ Maintain welding machines, gas cutting equipment, electrode ovens, grinders, and associated tools in valuable working condition.
¢ Follow Permit to Work procedures, Hot Work Permit requirements, fire watch protocols, and all plant safety regulations.
¢ Coordinate with Mechanical Maintenance, Projects, Production, Utilities, and Safety departments during maintenance and project execution.
¢ Maintain proper housekeeping in fabrication and welding work areas following 5S practices.
¢ Assist during installation and commissioning of new equipment, piping modifications, and plant expansion projects.
¢ Maintain records of welding consumables, repair activities, and daily work reports as required.
