Our client is an established, four-decade-old electronics and home-appliance manufacturer based in Goregaon West, Mumbai, and a trusted supply-chain partner to leading multinational brands. They are a professionally run, growing manufacturing enterprise on the Western Line.

Role & responsibilities

- Manage the end-to-end import of components and materials, from order placement to delivery at the plant.
- Prepare and verify import documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, bill of entry, and certificate of origin.
- Coordinate customs clearance with the CHA (customs house agent) and resolve customs queries to avoid demurrage and delays.
- Classify goods under the correct HS and customs tariff codes to secure the right duty rate and clean compliance.
- Track duty and landed cost, and find the best legitimate route to reduce tariff cost correct classification, FTA or preferential duty with a valid certificate of origin, and applicable exemption schemes.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping lines on rates, schedules, and shipment tracking.




- Handle letters of credit and bank documentation with the accounts team.
- Coordinate internally with purchase, stores, accounts, and production on incoming material.
- Maintain accurate import records and registers for audit and reference.

Preferred candidate profile

- 25 years of hands-on experience in import or EXIM operations, ideally in manufacturing or trading.
- Working knowledge of the import-export documentation process and customs clearance.
- Understanding of customs tariffs, HS classification, and how duty and landed cost can be managed.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, customs valuation, and freight coordination.
- Comfortable with MS Excel and ERP for import entries and landed-cost tracking.
- Currently residing in the Mumbai Western Suburbs
- Positive to have: importing of electrical / electronic / plastic components; knowledge of FTA or preferential duty, Advance Authorisation, EPCG, MOOWR, or duty drawback; IEC and DGFT familiarity.
