Role & responsibilities
EHS Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the corporate Environment, Health, Safety & ESG function, setting the strategic direction for EHS governance across all ongoing and upcoming data center and MEP projects.
- Develop, implement, and monitor organization-wide EHS management systems, policies, and performance standards aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Conduct corporate-level EHS audits, risk assessments, and leadership reviews to ensure consistent compliance and continuous improvement.
- Guide and mentor EHS managers and officers across multiple project sites, building safety leadership capability and accountability.
- Collaborate with project, design, and operations teams to integrate EHS considerations into planning, procurement, and construction stages
Statutory & Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable EHS laws, including BOCW Act, Factories Act (where applicable), Labor Laws, Environmental Regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Monitor statutory licenses, permits, and renewals.
- Coordinate with government authorities during inspections and audits.
Site Safety Management
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure documentation & implementation of Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Work at Height, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Lifting Operations, and Electrical Safety procedures.
- Review and approve Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS).
Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accident records and submit reports to management and clients.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and conduct EHS induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Organize toolbox talks, mock drills, safety campaigns, and awareness programs.
- Identify training needs and maintain training records.
- Analyse EHS performance trends and implement improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain EHS documentation, registers, and statutory records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EHS reports and dashboards.
- Present EHS performance reports to senior management every month.
- Develop emergency response plans for all project sites.
- Drive ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, if applicable.
- Establish Central Audit & performance monitoring systems across Multiple sites.
Client & Contractor Management
- Coordinate with client senior EHS teams to ensure project compliance.
- Attend client safety meetings and audits.
- Evaluate contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with contractual safety requirements.
Environmental Management
- Ensure proper waste management and disposal practices.
- Monitor environmental compliance related to air, water, noise, and hazardous waste.
- Promote sustainability and resource conservation initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR).
- Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR).
- Number of safety audits completed.
- Closure of corrective actions within agreed timelines.
- Statutory compliance score.
- Client safety audit performance.
- Training completion percentage.
- Near-miss reporting and closure rate.
- Emergency drill effectiveness.
- Contractor safety compliance.
- Preferred candidate profile
- Strong knowledge of Indian EHS legislation and standards.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Risk assessment and incident investigation expertise.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Audit and compliance management.
- Report writing and documentation.
Proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting systems.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, Science, or Environmental Science.
- Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute.
- NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001/ISO 14001 is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- 1215 years of relevant EHS experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in MEP, HVAC, EPC, construction, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Solid exposure to client safety requirements and statutory compliance.
Working Conditions:
- Frequent travel to project sites across India.
- Periodic work on weekends or extended hours during emergencies, audits, or critical project requirements.
