Position Summary

The Head Procurement shall be responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement function for mining operations, ensuring uninterrupted availability of HEMM spares, consumables, lubricants, services, capital equipment, and other operational requirements at optimum cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

The incumbent should possess strong techno-commercial expertise with extensive experience in procurement for mining projects, vendor development, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and supply chain management.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

1. Procurement Planning & Execution

- Lead the complete procurement cycle from requirement planning to material delivery.
- Ensure timely procurement of all operational, maintenance, and project-related materials.
- Develop procurement strategies aligned with production and maintenance schedules.
- Prevent equipment downtime due to non-availability of materials.

1. Techno-Commercial Procurement

- Evaluate technical specifications in consultation with Maintenance and Operations teams.
- Conduct techno-commercial evaluations of suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions.
- Achieve optimum Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

1. AMC/FMC Management

- Handle procurement and administration of AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) and FMC (Full Maintenance Contracts).
- Evaluate service contracts for HEMM, crushing plants, DG sets, and allied equipment.
- Monitor vendor performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Ensure contractual compliance and service quality.

1. Purchase Documentation & Contract Drafting

- Prepare and review:
- Purchase Orders (PO)
- Work Orders (WO)
- Rate Contracts




- Service Agreements
- Annual Supply Contracts
- Tender Documents
- RFQ/RFP documents

- Ensure commercial terms adequately protect company interests.
- Minimize contractual risks.

1. Vendor Development & Relationship Management

- Develop and maintain a strong vendor base across India.
- Maintain relationships with:
- OEMs
- Authorized Dealers
- Aftermarket Suppliers
- Local Suppliers
- Fabricators
- Service Providers

- Evaluate vendor capability and performance.
- Develop alternate and backup vendors for critical items.

1. Cost Optimization

- Identify alternate makes without compromising quality.
- Develop Second Source Procurement.
- Explore aftermarket alternatives where technically feasible.
- Conduct value engineering for major procurement categories.
- Negotiate long-term rate contracts.
- Drive localization initiatives.
- Achieve annual procurement savings.

1. Procurement Systems & Compliance

- Establish and ensure adherence to procurement SOPs.
- Ensure transparency, documentation, and approval compliance.
- Maintain procurement MIS and dashboards.
- Ensure audit readiness.
- Comply with company procurement policy.

1. Inventory Optimization

- Coordinate with Stores and Maintenance.
- Reduce excess inventory.
- Monitor slow-moving and non-moving items.
- Establish minimum, maximum, and reorder levels.
- Optimize working capital.

1. Cross Functional Coordination

Work closely with:

- Maintenance

Desired Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

- Minimum 7 to 15 years of procurement experience.
- At least 7 years in mining industry.
- Experience in large mechanized open cast mining projects.




- Experience with MDO contractors will be preferred.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech. (Mechanical / Mining / Production / Industrial Engineering) preferred.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with exceptional mining procurement experience may also be considered.
- MBA (Operations/Supply Chain) will be an added advantage.

- Capable of supporting large-scale mining operations with proactive procurement planning and strategic sourcing.

Essential Experience

- Minimum 715 years of procurement experience.
- At least 7 years in mining industry.
- Experience in large mechanized open cast mining projects.
- Experience with MDO contractors will be preferred.
