Job Description – Head Project Management & Central Planning (Including Customer Interface ) : PMCP ; Falls Under Department : PMG ; Location: Anand, Gujarat
Desire Level:
We are seeking a highly capable, self-driven PMCP Leader to head this critical function within a leading engineering and heavy manufacturing organization. This function falls under the Project management Group. The ideal candidate must be a highly customer-focused project management planning leader who can convert customer commitments into executable operational plans, drive disciplined project governance, align cross-functional teams, and consistently deliver projects on time, in full, and with high customer satisfaction while maximizing organizational efficiency and cash realization.
Span of Responsibility: Order Booking Contract Review Project Control Engineering (design) Interface Planning Manufacturing Coordination FAT Documentation Dispatch Installation Support Commercial Closure.
This role requires a dynamic professional with a proven track record to lead the end-to-end Project Management, Customer Interface, Central Planning & shop planning functions. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring seamless execution of customer orders from order booking by marketing / sales team to final commercial closure. The role is responsible for translating customer commitments into executable plans, driving cross-functional alignment, sales & operation meetings, ensuring on-time delivery, optimizing capacity utilization, and enhancing customer satisfaction through proactive governance and communication. The position acts as the single point of accountability for project control, production planning governance, customer milestone management, FAT coordination, documentation readiness, dispatch approvals, commercial closure and project monitoring, blockers & delays, analyzing and implementing PMC techniques to maximize customer satisfaction
Key Responsibilities (Elaborated)
1. Customer Governance & Relationship Management:
Act as the primary operational interface between customers and internal functions.
Ensure customer requirements, product requirements, contractual obligations, and delivery commitments are clearly understood and executed.
Lead customer review meetings, progress updates, escalation management, and milestone reviews.
Drive proactive communication to improve customer confidence and satisfaction. Ensure closure of customer comments, approvals, technical clarifications, and open points.
2. Project Management & Execution Control:
Develop project schedules, milestones, critical paths, and risk mitigation plans.
Monitor project progress and ensure timely resolution of bottlenecks.
Lead weekly project reviews and drive recovery plans for delayed projects. Management Information updates on daily, Weekly & Monthly.
Ensure adherence to contractual delivery commitments and project KPIs.
3. Central Planning & Production Scheduling:
Own the Master Production Plan (MPP) across manufacturing operations.
Align order book, engineering readiness, material availability, capacity, and customer priorities into an executable plan.
Optimize plant loading in respect to , resource utilization, and delivery performance.
Drive planning reviews with Manufacturing, Pur/ SCM, Engineering, Quality,
and Finance.
Ensure planning discipline through ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision making.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
Drive alignment between Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, Service, and Finance.
Ensure timely release of drawings, BOMs, purchase requirements, and production orders.
Resolve execution bottlenecks impacting customer commitments.
Facilitate decision-making and prioritization across competing business requirements.
5. FAT, Inspection & Documentation Governance
Ensure readiness and successful execution of FAT, customer inspections, and third-party inspections.
Govern technical and commercial documentation submissions.
Ensure timely closure of inspection observations and punch points.
Maintain compliance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.
6. Dispatch, Commercial Closure & Revenue Realization
Ensure dispatch readiness through coordination with Logistics, Quality, Finance, and Customers.
Drive dispatch approvals, payment milestones, LC/BG requirements, and billing clearances.
Monitor delivery confirmations, POD collection, installation milestones, and commercial closure.
Support cash-flow improvement through timely realization of project payments.
7. Operational Excellence & Governance
Establish standardized project management and planning processes.
Develop dashboards, KPIs, SOPs, governance reviews, and escalation mechanisms.
Drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy, project visibility, and customer responsiveness.
Implement best practices in project management, scheduling, capacity planning, and risk management.
10 . PROJECT & PRODUCT EXECUTION PLANNING (PEP) or Shop Planning
PEP is a core function within PMCP . PEP acts as a shop planning and execution control engine that converts commitments into executable manufacturing , materials and logistic plans . Must know the governance of PEP .

# Responsible for:
Material Planning & Procurement Coordination (Purpose – Material readiness ), Functions ( MRP ,Procurement trigger, Shortage control, PR release , SC Vendor follow-up if in their scope, Long lead items (LLI) , Customer supplied material , Inventory visibility / RM availability /BOI /Consumables / Imported parts, Coordinate with PUR, Stores , SC Vendors .Outputs - Material availability , Shortage tracker.
Capacity & Production Planning (Purpose - Load balancing , Priority ) Functions: ( Capacity planning , Machine / Workstation loading , Prod Order / JO , Monthly planning , Weekly scheduling , Daily loading , Bottleneck planning ) , Outputs: Production Planning and Shop Scheduling (Monthly production plan , Weekly plan , Daily loading , Aligned to Master Schedule which is based on Customer priorities , Material availability ,
Capacity & Bottlenecks . Weekly Planning must be in Rolling (M, M+1 , M+2)
Shop Floor Execution Control (Purpose: Execution discipline) , Functions: (WO release, Progress booking, Daily adherence, Priority control , Constraint management, Recovery execution , Re-sequencing, Coordinate with Production, QA, Design , CIP) , Outputs: Daily execution status, Monitoring variance, escalation
WIP & Flow Management –Purpose: Lean flow. Functions: WIP control, Queue monitoring, Throughput, Flow balance, Aging WIP, Line balancing, Outputs: WIP dashboard.
Packing & Preservation Engineering – Purpose: Shipment protection. Functions: Packing design, Preservation, Export packing, handling instruction, Marking, Transit protection. Outputs: Packing readiness
Logistics & Dispatch Management – Purpose: Purpose: Physical shipment. Functions: Transport, Vehicle selection, Route planning , Transporter management, Freight coordination, Dispatch (Loading, Lashing , Safety, Shipment release) ; Track: Transit, ETD (Estimated Time of Delivery) , Delay. Outputs: Shipment tracking
POD & Delivery Closure. - Purpose: Physical delivery confirmation. Functions: POD collection, Customer receipt, Damage report, Delivery confirmation, Logistics closure Outputs: Delivery closure

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent. MBA / PGDM preferred. PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-SP, APICS, or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience : 18–25 years of experience in Project Management, Production Planning, Operations, or Supply Chain within Heavy Engineering, Capital Equipment, Machinery Equipment, Industrial Manufacturing.
Proven experience managing customer-facing project execution environments.
Solid exposure to ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent.
Experience leading multi-functional teams and large order books.
