Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Assistant Manager / Manager - Surface Treatment to oversee blasting and painting operations for wind tower manufacturing. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring surface preparation and coating activities are carried out in accordance with customer specifications, international coating standards, and production schedules while maintaining the highest quality, safety, and productivity standards.
The ideal candidate must possess a valid NACE Level II Coating Inspector Certification and have hands-on experience in blasting, painting, coating inspection, and surface treatment processes in heavy engineering, structural steel, wind tower, pressure vessel, or similar manufacturing industries.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, supervise, and monitor all blasting, painting, and coating activities to meet production targets.
- Ensure surface preparation and painting operations comply with approved coating specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Verify blast cleanliness, surface profile, environmental conditions, DFT (Dry Film Thickness), WFT (Wet Film Thickness), adhesion testing, holiday testing, and coating quality.
- Monitor blasting media quality, paint mixing ratios, curing time, and coating application parameters.
- Ensure compliance with NACE, SSPC, ISO, customer specifications,



and applicable coating standards.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, Maintenance, and Dispatch teams for timely execution of jobs.
- Maintain daily production reports, paint consumption records, productivity reports, and coating inspection documentation.
- Optimize paint consumption and reduce wastage through effective process control.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and shelf-life monitoring of paints, thinners, blasting abrasives, and coating materials.
- Lead and supervise blasting and painting operators, inspectors, and contract manpower.
- Conduct root cause analysis for coating defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures while handling blasting equipment, paint booths, compressed air systems, and hazardous chemicals.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Surface Treatment department.
- Participate in customer inspections, third-party inspections, and internal quality audits.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Valid NACE Level II Coating Inspector Certification is mandatory.
- 815 years of experience in Surface Treatment, Blasting, and Painting operations.
- Experience in Wind Tower Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering, Structural Steel, Pressure Vessel, Shipbuilding, Oil & Gas, or EPC industries will be preferred.




- Strong knowledge of blasting standards, coating systems, industrial paints, and inspection techniques.
- Hands-on experience in operating and supervising automatic/manual blasting and painting systems.
- Valuable understanding of customer specifications, quality documentation, and coating inspection reports.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems and MS Office applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

- Valid NACE Level II Coating Inspector Certification (Mandatory).
- Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primer, and multi-coat industrial painting systems used in wind tower manufacturing.
- Knowledge of airless spray painting equipment, blast machines, paint curing processes, and environmental monitoring.
- Ability to manage coating inspection records, customer documentation, and third-party inspection requirements.
- Exposure to international coating standards and customer-specific painting procedures.
