System Operations: Configure and Manage Solaris (10/11) and HP-UX operating systems and kernel parameters.
Virtualization & Storage: Manage Solaris Zones, Logical Domains (LDOMs), HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars), and Logical Volume Managers (LVM/VxVM/ZFS).
SAN/NAS Integration: Allocate LUNs, manage Host Bus Adapter (HBA) firmware/drivers, and verify WWN/zoning configurations on SAN switches (Brocade/Cisco) in coordination with storage teams
Patching & Maintenance: Apply OS patches, firmware updates, and perform routine health checks during scheduled maintenance windows.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Resolve complex hardware, boot, network (NFS, DNS), performance bottlenecks, Analyze system logs, crash dumps, and performance metrics to resolve hardware or software issues, troubleshoot multipathing. Monitor and resize VxFS, UFS, and ZFS file systems, Schedule automated backups using cron/at utilities, review daily backup success/failure reports.




Backup & Recovery: Install, configure, and administer backup agents on Solaris and HP-UX hosts utilizing available Backup Tools. Coordinate disaster recovery planning, system backups, and failover testing. Troubleshoot backup performance bottlenecks, network-attached storage latency, and failed copy queues. Requirements & Skills :
Experience: 5 to 10+ years working in enterprise Unix environments.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of RISC/SPARC and HP hardware architectures, clustering (Service Guard, Sun Cluster), and scripting (Shell, Perl, Python) for automation.
Certification: Oracle Solaris System Administrator and/or HP-UX Certified Qualified certification preferred
Collaboration: Ability to work alongside application, database (DBA), network, and storage administration teams under strict ITIL framework
