ABOUT THE ROLE

Function / Team -

- Scope of Services : UNIX admin responsible for providing support for UNIX Infrastructure. He will be a primarily focused be an escalation point across the team for resolving technical issues. The incumbent will be expected to drive project of various nature i.e. Service Impact Assessment, Service Improvement, RCA, Guidance of new service, technical Assistance to other team members… etc.

- Service Operations: These support leaders have specific, deep understanding and expertise in one or two technology platforms (for example, RHEL, CentOS & AWS).

- Support includes the following:

- Insuring system hardware integrity through proactive measures

- Updates of operating systems when required

- Implementation of all upgrades and patches when required

- Responsible for testing, and documenting new configurations of UNIX services.

Organizational Change : Ensure new solutions delivered by projects are fit for purpose in service and delivers the right solution to the business from a capability and cost perspective that are aligned to the AZ architecture roadmaps. The role will ensure tight governance on proposed architecture changes, upgrades and process modifications.

Typical Accountabilities

- Responsible for monitoring alerts handling.

- Responsible for handling service requests.





- Responsible for diagnosing and fixing P3 & P4 end user relate incidents.

- Responsible for build and deploy servers and other infra services.

- Initial triaging, and remediation if possible, for all P1& P2 or else bring up it senior levels.

- Responsible for incident queue monitoring and management.

- Responsible for Creating & implementing Change requests.

- Responsible for fulfilment requests of standard changes (request for data, request for information, server builds, other service catalogue items)

- Responsible for creating and updating Known Error documentation.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential

- 4+ years Operational experience in UNIX Server/Virtualization/Cloud (AWS/Azure) administration

- Experience in managing Incidents, Problems, changes and capacity management aspects.

- Demonstrated ability handling large number of incidents via. Any ITSM tool

- Flexibility to work in shifts on rotational basis covering Americas, EMEA and ASIAPAC regions 24*7

- An ability to work effectively in a matrix organization is essential

- A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience and a desire for professional excellence

- Diploma Bachelor’s degree

- Multi years of work experience in Technical teams working in Shifts.

- RHEL 5,6 & 7

- AIX 6, 7

- HPC Computing, Pacemaker, RHEL/HACMP/VCS Cluster

- OpenStack, Azure and AWS

- Extensive systems administration experience in various UNIX flavors – LINUX, AIX, Solaris and their associated hardware platform.

- Experience of managing large patch roll-outs, Operating System upgrades and migrations.

- Experience of setting up multi-node cluster in pressing timescales.

- Management of authentication systems, like LDAP, VAS.

- Positive knowledge in Scripting.

- Fix performance issues.

- Competent in working clustering and Cloud products from various technology vendors.

- SAN storage management on UNIX platforms.

- Virtualization of Docker, Containerization and VMware.

- Good knowledge in implement and streamline activities of redesign technology and process.

Activities

- Deliver solutions and ideas that improve the stability and security of UNIX environment.

- Take ownership of escalated technical issues,



and lead them to closure by applying effective solution

- Provide and maintain the overall operational quality, service delivery and security compliance within UNIX team.

- Generate and drive Continuous Improvement initiatives aimed at improving business performance.

- Provide front end support for Production issues.

- Mentor and train team members to be help provide

- Robust process management expertise, experience of ITIL or any other service delivery framework.

- Achieve defined KPI’s meeting the SLA.

- Faster resolution of incidents in UNIX environment.

- Timely remediation of audit observations to ensure the compliance.

- To improve and maintain the availability and health of UNIX estate.

- Trend analysis of historical incidents, and identification of patterns.

- Automation of frequent BAU activities.

- Identify the opportunities to bring in efficiency through work-outs.
