/n Mental Health Counselor / Student Wellness Counselor

/n Position Summary
/n Sanjivani Group of Institutes invites applications for the position of Mental Health Counselor to promote the psychological well-being of students and employees across its diverse educational ecosystem, including Engineering, Polytechnic, Pharmacy, Management, Commerce, Computer Applications, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes.
/n The Counselor will provide confidential psychological counseling, crisis intervention, preventive mental health programmes, and emotional wellness initiatives while fostering a healthy, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. The role also extends to promoting employee mental well-being through awareness programmes, counseling support, and stress management initiatives.
/n Key Responsibilities
/n 1. Student Counseling Services
/n /n Provide confidential individual counseling to students experiencing: /n Academic stress
/n Anxiety and depression
/n Relationship concerns
/n Family issues
/n Emotional distress
/n Self-esteem concerns
/n Examination stress
/n Adjustment to campus life
/n Career uncertainty
/n Homesickness
/n Substance misuse concerns
/n Conduct intake assessments and maintain confidential counseling records.
/n Develop individualized support and intervention plans.
/n Monitor student progress through scheduled follow-up sessions.
/n /n 2. Crisis Intervention & Risk Management
/n /n Provide immediate psychological support during crises.
/n Assess and manage students at risk of self-harm or suicide.
/n Coordinate with parents, medical professionals, and institutional authorities during emergencies.
/n Maintain crisis response protocols in collaboration with the Medical Officer, Hostel Wardens, and Security Department.
/n Refer cases requiring psychiatric intervention to qualified mental health specialists.

/n Psychological first aid after critical incidents
/n Awareness on workplace mental health
/n /n 5. Student Outreach & Engagement
/n /n Conduct orientation sessions for newly admitted students.
/n Promote awareness regarding available counseling services.
/n Organize Mental Health Week, Wellness Month, and awareness campaigns.
/n Encourage help-seeking behaviour and reduce stigma associated with mental health.
/n Develop self-help resources and wellness materials.

/n 7. Parent Engagement
/n /n Conduct counseling sessions involving parents whenever appropriate.
/n Guide parents in supporting students facing emotional or behavioural challenges.
/n Maintain qualified communication while respecting confidentiality and ethical standards.
/n /n 8. Training & Capacity Building
/n Develop and deliver training programmes for faculty, mentors, wardens, and student leaders on: /n /n Early identification of mental health concerns
/n Psychological first aid
/n Active listening
/n Student mentoring
/n Suicide prevention
/n Referral mechanisms
/n Creating psychologically safe classrooms
/n /n 9. Documentation & Reporting
/n /n Maintain confidential counseling records.
/n Prepare monthly reports on: /n Number of counseling sessions
/n Wellness programmes conducted
/n Student participation
/n Emerging mental health trends
/n Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards regarding confidentiality and record management.
/n /n 10. Campus Mental Health Initiatives
/n Lead initiatives such as: /n /n Peer Support Programme
