Driver Job Description

Job Title: Driver
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Chairman/CEO
Location: Campus

Job Summary

The Driver is responsible for providing safe, timely, and efficient transportation services for management, faculty, staff, students (where applicable), and official materials. The role also includes ensuring proper maintenance, cleanliness, and documentation of assigned vehicles while strictly adhering to traffic laws and institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safe Transportation

- Drive institutional vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Transport management, faculty, staff, guests, and students as assigned.
- Ensure passengers reach their destinations safely and on time.
- Follow all traffic rules and road safety regulations.

2. Vehicle Maintenance

- Conduct daily inspection of the vehicle before commencing duty.
- Maintain cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
- Check fuel, engine oil, coolant, tyre pressure, brakes, battery, and lights regularly.
- Report mechanical faults immediately to the Administrative Officer.
- Ensure periodic servicing is completed as per the manufacturer's schedule.

3. Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain an up-to-date vehicle logbook recording mileage, trips, fuel consumption, and maintenance.
- Ensure vehicle registration, insurance, pollution certificate, fitness certificate, and permits remain valid.
- Carry all required vehicle documents while on duty.
- Report accidents, damages, or traffic violations immediately.

4. Administrative Support

- Deliver and collect official documents, examination materials,



bank documents, and parcels when required.
- Assist during admissions, examinations, inspections, seminars, conferences, and institutional events.
- Support transportation arrangements for visiting dignitaries and officials.

5. Safety & Security

- Ensure vehicles are parked securely after duty.
- Never operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding official travel and institutional matters.
- Follow emergency procedures during accidents or breakdowns.

6. Professional Conduct

- Maintain punctuality and discipline.
- Wear the prescribed uniform and maintain a neat appearance.
- Behave courteously and respectfully with passengers.
- Avoid unnecessary personal use of institutional vehicles.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Administrative Officer or Management.

Qualifications

- Minimum qualification: 10th Pass (Higher qualification preferred).
- Valid LMV driving license (HMV license preferred if required).
- Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations.
- Minimum 2–5 years of professional driving experience.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to communicate in Odia, Hindi,



and basic English is desirable.

- Proper maintenance of vehicle logbooks and records.
- Cleanliness and upkeep of assigned vehicle.
- Passenger satisfaction and professional conduct.
- Compliance with institutional policies and traffic regulations.

Working Conditions

- Flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays when institutional activities require.
- Travel within and outside the district/state as assigned.
- May be required to work beyond regular office hours during admissions, examinations, inspections, and special events.
