Role & responsibilities
The District Manager is responsible for managing the overall operations of 108 Ambulance Services within the assigned district. The role ensures productive emergency response, ambulance availability, fleet performance, manpower management, compliance with government and organizational standards, and achievement of operational KPIs. The District Manager acts as the primary point of contact for district-level stakeholders, including health authorities, hospitals, and local administration.
Role & responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of all ambulances within the assigned district.
- Ensure timely emergency response and adherence to response time targets.
- Monitor ambulance deployment, utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure uninterrupted 247 ambulance services across the district.
- Coordinate with the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) for effective ambulance dispatch.
- Supervise and guide Operations Executives, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Ambulance Pilots (Drivers), and other field staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate manpower deployment.
- Monitor employee attendance, discipline, productivity, and performance.
- Conduct regular field visits, team meetings, and performance reviews.
- Identify training needs and facilitate staff development program.
- Ensure all ambulances are roadworthy and available for emergency operations.
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and minimise vehicle downtime.
- Ensure ambulances are equipped with functional medical equipment, oxygen systems, medicines, and consumables.
- Coordinate with fleet maintenance teams for timely repairs and servicing.
- Ensure compliance with government guidelines, organisational SOPs, and healthcare quality standards.
- Monitor operational documentation, patient records, and statutory compliance.
- Conduct periodic audits and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with district health officials, hospitals, police, fire services, and local administration.
- Attend district review meetings and represent the organisation.
- Resolve operational issues and stakeholder concerns promptly.
- Monitor district performance against KPIs and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends and implement process improvements.
- Monitor response times, fleet utilization, employee productivity, and service quality.
- Coordinate ambulance services during disasters, epidemics, mass casualty incidents, and special events.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and business continuity plans are effectively implemented.
