Role Summary

The Senior Executive – Tool Room & Precision Engineering will be responsible for creating and maintaining precision part drawings for optical and IOL manufacturing components, translating design requirements into accurate 2D/3D CAD models using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. The role bridges design and the tool room floor: the candidate will implement drawings in the tool room, verify that the actual machined output meets specified tolerances, and revise drawings iteratively until the required precision is achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Drawing & CAD Design

- Create, interpret, and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of optical precision parts — including moulds, jigs, fixtures, and IOL-related tooling — using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
- Ensure drawings include correct GD&T; (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) callouts, surface finish requirements, and material specifications appropriate for optical-grade components.
- Revise and update drawings based on feedback from tool room trials, inspection outcomes, or design changes.

Tool Room Implementation & Verification

- Translate approved drawings into tool room instructions and oversee machining operations to ensure parts are produced as per drawing specifications.
- Able to consider constraints of CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and precision measuring instruments — to verify machined outputs against drawing tolerances.
- Identify deviations between the machined part and the drawing; determine whether the correction lies in the machining process or in the drawing itself, and act accordingly.

Iterative Improvement & Problem Solving





- Follow a structured trial-inspect-revise cycle: implement the drawing, measure the output, analyse deviations, modify the drawing or process parameters, and repeat until the specified optical precision is achieved.
- Collaborate with the process engineering team to validate that final tool room outputs meet the dimensional and optical requirements of the manufacturing process.
- Suggest design improvements or material/process changes to enhance machinability, precision, and tool life.

Documentation

- Maintain an organised revision-controlled library of all part drawings, tool designs, and change records.
- Document trial outcomes, deviation reports, and final approved drawing versions for traceability and audit purposes.

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

- Diploma or B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die, or Production Engineering.
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in tool room operations and precision CAD drafting, with demonstrated ability to work to tight tolerances (micron-level preferred for optical components).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining, precision metrology instruments (CMM, profile projector, micrometers, height gauges), and GD&T; interpretation.
- Prior exposure to optical component manufacturing, mould design, or medical device tooling is a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in Gujarati and English is mandatory; must be able to read engineering drawings independently and communicate clearly with both shop-floor machinists and engineering management.

Work Conditions

This is a tool room and design office based role at the manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The candidate must be comfortable splitting time between CAD workstation and the tool room floor, and working extended hours during critical tooling or current product development cycles.
