POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across all manufacturing, production, engineering, maintenance, utilities, supply chain coordination, process safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization's business objectives.
Lead capacity expansion, debottlenecking, modernization, and capital investment initiatives.
Establish long-term operational plans to improve productivity, profitability, and sustainability.
Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and business growth initiatives.
Manufacturing Operations
Direct all manufacturing activities including bromine extraction and Industrial Salt
Ensure optimal plant utilization while maintaining production targets, quality standards, and operating efficiencies.
Monitor operational KPIs including plant availability, OEE, production yield, energy consumption, and manufacturing costs.
Process Safety & Risk Management
Champion Process Safety Management (PSM) across all operations.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and corporate safety standards.
Lead hazard identification studies including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and risk assessments.
Oversee emergency preparedness, disaster management planning, and incident investigations.
Environmental, Health & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, occupational health, and hazardous chemical regulations.
Maintain compliance with statutory requirements issued by:
Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health (DISH)
– Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB)
– Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)
– Ministry of Setting, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)
– Factories Act and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code
– Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemicals (MSIHC) Rules
– Chemical Accidents (Emergency Planning, Preparedness and Response) Rules
Lead environmental sustainability initiatives including emissions reduction, wastewater management, resource conservation, and waste minimization.
Engineering & Asset Reliability
Oversee maintenance, reliability engineering, utilities, instrumentation, and electrical functions.
Develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
Improve asset reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
Manage shutdown planning, turnaround execution, and capital maintenance programs.
Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination
Coordinate production planning with procurement, logistics, warehousing, and sales teams.
Optimize inventory levels for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
Ensure safe storage and transportation of hazardous chemicals in accordance with applicable regulations.
Operational Excellence
Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Drive digital transformation through manufacturing analytics, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Benchmark operational performance against global best practices.
Financial Management
Develop and manage annual operating budgets.
Monitor manufacturing costs and capital expenditure.
Deliver operational improvements that enhance EBITDA and return on invested capital.
Evaluate investment proposals and prepare business cases for capital projects.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop senior operations leadership teams.
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Develop succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Promote employee engagement and organizational values throughout the operations function.
Stakeholder Management
Interface with regulatory authorities, auditors, customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and local communities.
Support customer audits and certification programs.
Represent operations during board reviews and executive management meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or an MBA is preferred.
Additional certifications in Process Safety, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Project Management,
or Operational Excellence are highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE
20–25 years of progressive experience in chemical manufacturing operations.
Minimum 8–10 years in senior leadership positions managing large-scale hazardous chemical manufacturing facilities.
Extensive experience in bromine, chlor-alkali, specialty chemicals, inorganic chemicals, petrochemicals, or other hazardous chemical industries.
Proven track record of leading multi-site or integrated manufacturing operations.
Experience managing greenfield, brownfield, or expansion projects is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Executive leadership role based at the manufacturing complex in the Greater Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.
Regular interaction with production units handling hazardous chemicals and high-risk industrial processes.
Periodic travel to corporate offices, customer locations, regulatory authorities, and project sites.
Availability during plant emergencies, scheduled shutdowns, and critical operational events.
