Job Summary
Nexelon Chem Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a skilled and proactive Assistant Manager Electronics & Instrumentation to join our team at the Khambhat manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems across the plant. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational reliability, process control accuracy, plant safety, and regulatory compliance in a continuous chemical processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Maintenance & Operational Reliability
- Lead routine, preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance of all instrumentation control loops, field instruments, and PLC/DCS systems.
- Troubleshoot complex failures in field instruments (transmitters, control valves, flowmeters, level sensors, temperature sensors, analyzers) to minimize plant downtime.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, MCC/PCC panels, VFDs, UPS systems, and emergency backup systems.
2. Automation & Process Control
- Oversee and maintain DCS, PLC, and SCADA control systems, ensuring seamless integration with chemical process operations.
- Perform loop tuning, logic modifications, and safety interlocking checks in coordination with process engineering teams.
- Ensure data integrity and reliability across all automated process control loops.
3. Calibration & Compliance
- Manage the calibration schedule for all process instruments and safety interlocks in compliance with ISO, PESO, and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration certificates, maintenance logs, and instrument histories.
- Participate in internal, external, and safety audits, ensuring full compliance with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols.
4. Team Leadership & Contractor Management
- Supervise, guide, and train a team of instrumentation engineers and technicians.
- Manage third-party service vendors, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) during maintenance shutdowns or project modifications.
- Ensure strictly enforced safe work permits (e.g., Hot Work, Height Work, Electrical Safety) within the instrumentation team.
5. Spares & Budget Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels for critical instrumentation spares, control valves, sensors, and electronic components.
- Raise Purchase Requisitions (PRs), prepare technical specifications, and conduct technical evaluation of vendor quotes.
- Support the Department Head in preparing annual maintenance budgets and identifying cost-reduction opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
1. Plant Uptime: Reduction in unscheduled plant downtime caused by instrumentation or electrical failures.
2. Maintenance Compliance:
100% adherence to preventive maintenance and calibration Schedules.
3. Safety Compliance: Zero incidents or lost-time injuries (LTI) in the E&I; department.
4. Inventory Management: Zero stock-outs of critical instrumentation spare parts.
Preferred candidate profile
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech or M.E. / M.Tech in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Instrumentation, or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of manufacturing experience in Electronics & Instrumentation
- Direct experience in a Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, or Process Plant environment is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Field Instrumentation: In-depth knowledge of control valves, actuators, positioners, pressure/temperature/level/flow transmitters, and gas/chemical analyzers.
- Automation: Hands-on expertise with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.), SCADA, and DCS platforms.
- Communication Protocols: Practical knowledge of HART, Modbus, Profibus, and Fieldbus systems.
- Safety & Hazardous Areas: Good understanding of flameproof/explosion-proof equipment standards (Ex-proof, Intrinsically Safe) suited for chemical environments.
- Software Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD (Electrical/Instrumentation drawings), MS Office, and SAP/CMMS software for maintenance management.
Soft Skills & Behavioural Attributes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with quick root-cause analysis capability.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Clear communication skills in English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
- Ability to manage emergency breakdowns under pressure in a continuous plant setting.
