Qualification

- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM Nursing

Experience

- Minimum 3 years of experience as an OT Scrub Nurse in a multi-specialty hospital.
- Experience in handling major and minor surgical procedures is preferred.
- Experience in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Laparoscopic Surgery, and other specialties will be an added advantage.

Job Summary

The OT Scrub Nurse is responsible for maintaining a sterile operating environment, preparing instruments and equipment, assisting surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to hospital infection control and OT protocols.

Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Operative Responsibilities

- Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery.
- Verify the OT schedule and prepare instruments, implants, sutures, and consumables.
- Check the sterility and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure all required supplies are available before the procedure.
- Assist in patient positioning and skin preparation while maintaining aseptic techniques.

Intra-Operative Responsibilities

- Maintain strict sterile technique throughout the surgery.
- Scrub, gown, and glove according to infection control protocols.
- Assist surgeons by anticipating instrument and supply requirements.
- Handle surgical instruments efficiently and safely.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts before, during, and after surgery.
- Report any discrepancies immediately.
- Ensure proper specimen handling and labeling.
- Monitor the sterile field throughout the procedure.

Post-Operative Responsibilities

- Complete final instrument, needle,



and sponge counts.
- Assist with patient transfer to the recovery area.
- Ensure proper cleaning, segregation, and dispatch of instruments for sterilization.
- Prepare the OT for the next surgical procedure.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to the surgery.

Infection Control

- Follow hospital infection prevention and control policies.
- Adhere to sterilization and disinfection protocols.
- Ensure biomedical waste is segregated and disposed of as per regulations.
- Report any breach in sterile technique immediately.

Documentation

- Maintain OT records and surgical documentation accurately.
- Record instrument counts and implant details where applicable.
- Complete nursing documentation in a timely manner.

Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Mandatory Requirements

- Minimum 3 years of OT Scrub Nurse experience.

- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
