Job Description

Job Summary:

The Biochemistry Incharge is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Biochemistry Laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely processing of laboratory investigations, maintaining quality standards, supervising technical staff, and ensuring compliance with NABH, NABL, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise the day-to-day functioning of the Biochemistry Laboratory.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable processing and reporting of biochemistry tests.
- Oversee calibration, quality control (IQC), external quality assurance (EQAS), and preventive maintenance of laboratory analyzers.
- Monitor reagent inventory, consumables, and laboratory supplies to prevent stock shortages.
- Review and validate laboratory reports before release, as per departmental protocols.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, ISO standards, biosafety, and infection control guidelines.
- Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory technicians and support staff.
- Coordinate with consultants, clinicians, and other departments to ensure effective laboratory services.
- Investigate quality issues,



equipment failures, and report deviations; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain laboratory documentation, SOPs, quality records, equipment logs, and statutory records.
- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.

Qualifications:

- M.Sc. Medical Biochemistry / M.Sc. Biochemistry or
- B.Sc. MLT with relevant supervisory experience.
- Additional certification in Quality Management or Laboratory Accreditation is preferred.

Experience:

- 5–8 years of experience in a hospital diagnostic laboratory.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or in charge role in a Biochemistry Laboratory.
