JOB DESCRIPTION – RESEARCH PROFESSOR

(Industry & Government R&D; Oriented)

Position Overview

Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) seeks to appoint a highly accomplished Research Professor with a distinguished background in industrial and/or government-funded Research & Development (R&D;). The ideal candidate will have substantial experience driving innovation, technology development, and applied research within organizations such as ISRO, DRDO, CSIR laboratories, BARC, HAL, BEL, NAL, NABL-accredited research institutions, national laboratories, leading industries, or equivalent organizations.

The role is designed for professionals who can translate real-world research expertise into impactful academic outcomes, foster industry and government collaborations, and contribute to building a strong innovation-led research culture at DSU.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and execute high-impact research programs aligned with university, industry, and national research priorities.
- Leverage experience gained from industry and government R&D; organizations to develop applied research solutions, prototypes, patents, technology transfers, and high-quality publications.
- Establish and lead externally funded research projects from government agencies, industries, international organizations, and funding bodies.
- Build strategic collaborations with organizations such as ISRO, DRDO, CSIR labs, DST, DBT, MeitY, AICTE, industries, and other research institutions.
- Mentor faculty members, researchers, and students in advanced research methodologies, product development, innovation, and commercialization.




- Teach specialized and application-oriented courses that bridge academic concepts with industrial and national research challenges.
- Guide undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral scholars in multidisciplinary research projects.
- Support the development and expansion of research infrastructure, Centres of Excellence (CoEs), AI Factory initiatives, innovation hubs, incubation centres, and technology development programs.
- Promote a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, intellectual property creation, and societal impact.

Required Qualifications

- Ph.D. in Engineering or a related technology discipline from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering or a closely related field.
- Desirable: Post-doctoral research, technology leadership experience, or senior scientist/research leadership roles in reputed government research organizations or industry R&D; centres.

Experience Requirements

- 8-15 years of combined experience in industrial R&D;, government research laboratories, academia, or applied research environments.
- Prior experience in organizations such as ISRO, DRDO, CSIR laboratories, BARC, HAL, BEL, NAL, NABL-accredited institutions, national research centres, technology organizations, or leading industrial R&D; establishments will be highly preferred.
- Proven track record in obtaining research grants,



executing sponsored projects, and delivering measurable research outcomes.
- Demonstrated contributions through patents, publications, prototypes, technology transfers, products, standards development, or funded research projects.
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with external stakeholders.
